Chapter 21: No Need To Worry

"Do you think it's okay if we go out for a walk? Maybe see Bonzo and Eliza?" I asked her father and mine over Addison's head. Addison looked up at me with those big eyes she has and she smiles again.

"Go on ahead kiddos." The Chief says.

"Just don't go too far." My dad adds.

Addison takes my hand as we make our way out the front door.

"I missed you. " She says, glancing at me from the corner of her eye.

"I would be pretty sad if you didn't. " I joked, swinging our hands gently in the air. She laughed blithely.

"It's been a crazy month. The only thing I've really wanted was to see you." She says, staring intently at me.

I spun her gently and grinned. "Well, now you're seeing me," I say lovingly, trailing my hand across her cheek. She sighs and leans into my palm.

"You look tired." I noticed, frowning at the dark bags under her eyes, "Is everything okay?"

"Yes, everything is okay. I just didn't get enough sleep last night. I've been spending all my time with Bucky."

"How is he?"

"Remarkably, he's great, he really is. He never got angry about what he turned into and he took everything calmly. He doesn't hate himself or any of you guys if that's what you're worried about."

"That's nice to hear," I say, brushing a stray white hair behind her ear.

"I really want to kiss you right now." She says to me suddenly. My grin only widens as I glance at my house.

"Me too, but, I think your father might mind and I don't want to risk being at the end of his taser." I chuckle under my breath.

"You know how to run. " She tells me with a mischievous grin.

I jerk my head slowly, "I do, but your dad knows where I live; in fact, he is standing where I live at this very moment so I will be the most gentlemanly gentleman and wait to kiss you." I lightly tap the tip of her nose.

Addison scoffs and playfully rolls her eyes.

"Addison?" I begin more seriously and she raises an eyebrow in alarm at my sudden change of tone.

"What is it? " She asks, looking all over my face.

"I want to say sorry for attacking you. I lost control of myself and I'm so sorry. "

Addison shakes her head, smiling softly, "Zed, you don't need to apologize. It wasn't your fault. It was theirs and you know it's true."

I shook my head in disbelief, "What did I ever do to deserve you?"

Slowly a grin worked it's way up Addison's face, "For starters, you were born handsome. "

I feigned offense, placing a hand on my chest, "Is that all you see in me? My incredibly, maybe perfect, almost hand sculpted face? "

Addison started to laugh, "Your humbleness was definitely what made me fall in love."

"What?! What about my finely tuned body? Or my adorable nose? Or my perfect height? Do these mean nothing to you?"

"Eh," She shrugged, still smiling as she wraps her arms around my neck," I prefer my sweet, kindhearted boy. "

I'm grinning from ear to ear, "And everything else is just a big plus, right? "

She chuckles holding me in a hug, "Right." she breathes against me.

"You two spend one minute with each other and it's like the rest of the world isn't here. Like hello, I'm standing here, I already greeted you but you two have to be all lovey-dovey with one another to even notice. "
