So we're not the only insane idiots that ran toward the alarm instead of away from it. There's actually a couple of other students here. The alarm is blaring, ringing annoyingly through our ears, the light pulsing like the siren on a police car. We are all covering our ears from the shrill noise.

One of the students, a girl, quickly fiddles with the alarm until it's shut off and when it is she falls to the ground, rubbing her ears. She's going to have a headache later, I can guarantee it.

"What is that?" The boy who was with her says, well, yells as he points at the flagpole next to the alarm.

"No!" Addison gasps beside me, before sprinting to the pole. I'm right at her side as she struggles to find some way to get the flag down. There's a jacket, green with silver sleeves tied to the rope next to the flag.

Addison finds a small cover on the pole and yanks it, pulling the chain.

"Addison that's not going to work," I tell her, knowing what she is trying to do, knowing who the jacket belongs to before it is even on the ground.

She shakes her head, "We have to get it down, that's my cousin's jacket!"

"Unless you have a wrench on you the only thing that's going to happen is we get that flag at half mast." The other student says, covering his eyes from the sun.

Addison looks up again then looks at me, "I'm going to climb it."

I blink, "What?"

Addison has that look on her face, the unwavering, determined one. And again I'm staring at her like she was the only thing in the world. I know if it wasn't for our recent kiss that I would at least try to talk her out of it, but can't. I'm mesmerized.

In a swift move, she removes her pink jacket, wrapping it around the pole and tightening it around her hands.

Still, I stand here. Mesmerized.

That's a valid excuse, right?

It is to me, at least until I come to my senses. She could fall. What she is doing is absolutely mad!

"Addison, are you sure--"

"Give me a hand please."

I don't get much time to respond or tell her she's crazy, instinctively I lower down to my knee, holding my hands out. She hoists herself up and again all I can do is stare in awe. I shouldn't even be shocked at this point, I wish I was but I know what kind of girl Addison is and I know she doesn't think twice at times. It's very endearing.

I think I've blinked twice so far and already she is halfway up. Addison is far too courageous....or reckless really. You'd think that the zombie would be the one that's reckless, but no, it's her.

She stumbles momentarily as she reaches for the jacket hanging on the rope and I stand below her in case she falls ready to catch her.

She yanks the jacket and it falls to my face, I remove it and Addison is sliding down the pole.

Her white hair stuck to her forehead from the exertion, frowning and reaching for the jacket in my hand. I hand it to her and she looks it over, her eyes beginning to water.

"It's his, Zed, it's his."

She shudders, seeing something on the inside. I take it back to see what it is.

'The flap of a butterflies wings...' Written in the same green paint as the graffiti in town.

The two students that were there with us come closer, looking at the jacket with curiosity.
