You took a peek in the mirror to see if you looked suitable. After being happy  with how you looked, you headed out the door into the long shinny hallway.

Friendly faces of your neighbors we're seen as they were also heading to their posts scattered across the ship.

A few waves for focused your way as they passed by. As you returned the gesture you began to walk down to the engineering section to meet up with your boss who would give you your task for the day since you finished your last task the day before.

Reaching the elevator, you stepped on with three other red shirts who, you assumed, were heading to the same place.

Your suspicions we're confirmed when one of them said: "Engineering."

You stood in the back of the circular room as you fell slowly down to the engineering level.

As soon as the doors we're open, you could see a crowd of red shirts surround a man who was talking quickly with a Scottish accent.

"You, check on the crystals. Adams, make sure the warp core is at temperature. Uh... there needs ta' be more things to go wrong so everyone can have something ta' do. "

"Scotty, " you called out to the scotsman.

"Yes? Oh, lass, come here."

Walking up to him, he motioned for the others to wander off.

"Lass, if I'm not mistaken, I don't think I have anything for ya to do today."

"That's fine Scotty, I just wanted to come down since I have nothing else to do."

"Well, " he smiled, "ya can help me out if ya'd like, Lass."

Nodding, he walked you over to his position at engineering.

"I've been doing some calibrations to see if I can set the warp speed to a higher standard. That means we would be able to run away faster if the Captain makes any mistakes, " he joked.

You smiled and looked down at all the screens.

Swarms of pixels changed color at different paces to show the image of the Enterprise and all her systems. They all seemed in working order, at least from what you could see.

Each section was labeled with the name above it. Reading them, you noticed that the words began to become blurry. You squinted your eyes to see that your vision became worse by the second.

You placed a hand on your forehead as bursts of pain shot through you like bullets.

"Are ya okay, Lass?"

You stumbled over what seemed like nothing into a random worker who caught you like a trust fall.

"Nice catch, Ensign. Call up to Medbay. I got her."

Scotty gently placed you against the wall as the man called up to the Medbay.

"Medbay, I need someone down here at engineering. Lieutenant Y/N has had a strange episode of what looks to be near fainting."

Scotty dismissed the man after he stopped the call.

"Are ya alright, Lass? You almost cracked the back of your head on the floor there."

Shaking your head, you stood up quickly, which wasn't the best idea, that lead to you becoming light-headed.

"Yeah. Of course Im alright. When am I never?"

Scotty took a moment to answer. "Youre right. You are never sick or anything, which means that it would be good to be checked out when you finally are sick for it may be worse than any normal sickness that you may be immune to."

He made a good point, but you still didnt want to believe that there is any way youd be unfit for duty.

"Alright. Where is she?" said a familiar western style accent.

"Oh, I dont think the matter was serious enough for you to come down here, Doc," Scotty explained without answering the Doctors question.

"But she's never sick."

You rolled your eyes at the repeat in words from a different person as you stepped into his view.

"Well ya' look fine, but I was told by the nurse that you fainted?"

"Almost. Almost fainted," you said quickly to correct him.

"Almost...well ya' still need to come with me. Almost fainting is still under that category of 'what the hell is wrong with ya'?"

You slightly scowled at the idea and stepped away, but your arm was caught in a second and he began to drag you to the medbay.
