" Where did you get that...thing?"
Bones was sitting in your desk in a tense pose as he looked at the strange flytrap like creature. His hands were clasped together on his lap as he looked at the creature, not being able to look away at the fear of it jumping at him even though it sat in a pot like a normal house plant.
You smiled as you stuck your hand out to pet the plant.
" Im not sure. I found him in a store on Risa. It wasnt a pet store, but I found Pandora being sold as if they were just a normal house plant. Of course, I didnt believe it since it was moving and screaming."
Bones shifted in the chair to lean on the arm rest and point at Pandora.
"You mean to tell me that you saw a moving, screaming plant, and decided it was a good pet?"
You laughed, "I mean, yeah. It was the first animal I saw outside of our normal dogs and house cats. Of course I found it interesting, and I wanted to keep it!"
Bones shook his head in disbelief as he smiled, but the smile slowly faded as he remembered why he was here in the first place.
"So," Bones cleared his throat, " You said you....wanted to get rid of it, ya?"
You still smiled as you exhaled and sat on the edge of your bed.
You ran your hand through your hair, "Not get rid of him, no. That makes it seem that I dont want him anymore. I just want to give him to someone else who can love him as I do. Someone who can feed him, water him, not be afraid of him. You know?"
Bones Nodded. "Yeah, I get you."
You stand up from your bed to walk over to your desk. Bones moved the chair slightly as you reached the desk to open the top drawer. You pulled out a post card that had a picture of you next to an old lady in front of what seemed to be a small shop, and you handed it to McCoy.
"Thats Miss. Evergreen. She runs an actual pet shop unlike the store on Risa. Its on Earth. I know her from my childhood since her shop is where I always got my pets. I called her almost as soon as I got Pandora. She didnt know much of his species, but said that if I ever needed help with taking care of him, she would travel to the ends of the universe to find me."
"How sweet," Bones replied as his smiled at the sweet old lady on the card.
"Yeah, but the thing is, I dont know if she is still alive. She was at least seventy when I left. Even if she was, I have no way to send him to her since I dont have the proper license to send living things through delivery."
Bones looked at you as you explained. "Well, Y/N, good thing for you, I do have a license for that as a lead Doctor. I have to have that permission in the case of emergency to send mortally injured patients in the event that I cant help them. On the other hand, I wont be able to know if Miss Evergreen is alive until I dig up any files on her, assuming she even has any."
You sighed as you sat on the ground near bones legs as he stayed in the chair.
"Give me your opinion, Doc. Is this a lost cause, or should I try to find someone else?"
Bones looked down at you and shook his head.
"Its not a lost cause yet. I will look her up, Girly."
You looked up quickly at him and smiled brightly.

"Spock, come here for a second."
Spock walked over to the captains chair at a moderate pace, leaving his station unmanned.
"Yes, Captain?"
"Its late, isnt it?"
Spock raised an eyebrow.
"We only have two hours and twenty-seven minutes until our shifts on the bridge ends, if that is what you mean."
Jim threw his head back slightly in annoyance.
"Thats too long, if Im being honest, Spock. Today has been a slow, slow, slow, boring day...Did I mention it has been slow?"
Spock crossed his arms. "You did mention it, yes. Is there a reason for my walking over here, Captain?"
"No."
Spock began to walk back to his post as Kirk watched him and chuckled.
"Hey. Where has Bones been? He hasnt gone asleep yet has he? Hes the night-owl of us all."
"Im not sure captain," Spocked replied from a distance as he had reached his post once again.
Jim sighed as he closed his eyes, waiting for the next two hours to pass.
