Amanda
It felt like Saturday had somehow snuck up on me and I was leaving my apartment to meet Alesha at a nearby café that was close to both of our apartments. We had been texting every night since Thursday, when we met each other again after six years of being broken up. Alesha was definitely surprised to learn that I was a mother twice over after I had initially told her that I didn't want children until I was at least in my thirties when we had first gotten to know each other.
I knew by now that Alesha was a mother herself and she had a daughter that was two years younger than Lexi was, and more of a handful than Lexi was. I knew that Alesha had wanted children from the start of our relationship when we were eighteen so I wasn't too surprised to learn that Alesha had a young daughter.
I had figured that she would have leaned towards adopting a child instead of carrying one but I had been wrong. She had wanted to experience pregnancy so she went through with artificial insemination.
Alesha wanted to ask me something today while we were talking over coffee but I had no clue as it what it was. I couldn't help but think that it was something to do with us for some reason. I wished that she would have just texted it to me so I would have known what I was going to tell her in reply but she said that she wanted to do it in person.
I was a bundle of nerves that morning because I knew Alesha was going to ask me something. I had gotten my friend, Simon, to watch Theo and Lexi for me so I could meet Alesha. I was still at home as Simon had arrived early to babysit for me so he was lounging on the couch in my living room feeding Theo for me.
"He's almost done with the bottle, Amanda," Simon said, forcing me to look up from my phone and texting Alesha. I was still trying to pry the question out of her but she wasn't budging.
"He is! I only did half a bottle too for him!" I crowed. Theo still wasn't finishing a meal if I was bottle feeding him, which I didn't do all that often unless I was extremly pressed for time. I more preferred to breastfeed him but I was already trying to wean him off of my breast. I still pumped milk though and I didn't want him to be dependent on me for milk from my breast instead of taking a bottle.
Simon put the bottle down on a side table after Theo released the nipple of it from his mouth. "Who're you texting like mad?"
I grinned and replied, "my first ever girlfriend."
Simon knew that I was bisexual and he was as well. Alesha and I were texting about setting up her best friend with my best friend as her best friend was gay and Simon was bisexual. We wanted to see if they were going to hit it off and we were trying to set them up on a blind date.
"Didn't you break up with her because she was using you just for sex though?" Simon asked me.
"We did but we met again a few days ago because Lexi has her as a teacher this school year. It was going to happen eventually," I replied. I got off of the chair I was sitting in and I took the baby bottle into the kitchen, placing it into the sink so I could wash it when I got back from meeting Alesha for coffee.
I heard Simon praise Theo for burping and then came the sound of Simon becoming grossed out from Theo spitting up on him. I went into my bedroom and I grabbed a clean shirt for Simon to wear. He kept a few shirts at my apartment for whenever Theo spit up on him.
I went back into the living room and I tossed the clean shirt at Simon.
"Thanks," he said, catching the shirt and he handed me Theo so he could change.
"I have to leave in a few minutes," I said as Simon changed his shirt to the clean one. I couldn't count the number of times that I had seen Simon shirtless from having spring breaks with him and holidays with him. We weren't together and Simon was just close to me. He knew who my children's birth father was as they had been friends in their primary and secondary school years. Simon helped me out after Lexi had been born and I had to drop out of uni.
"Leave now so you won't be late," Simon replied. I handed him back Theo after giving my son a kiss on the head. I then shouted a goodbye to Lexi and I left my apartment, locking the door behind me.
I walked down the stairs of my apartment building and I opened the main door. I pocketed my keys and my phone in my back pocket. I already knew where the café was that Alesha and I were going to meet at.
I walked down the wet path that led to the sidewalk and I passed by a few people that I knew who lived in my apartment building. I said a quick greeting to them and I began to walk down the sidewalk. The grass beside the sidewalk was wet from the rain we had gotten in London the night before and it had been raining when I had gotten up this morning. Luckily the sun was shining and it was predicted that more rain wasn't going to come until later in the day, after I was home from meeting Alesha.
I couldn't wait to see her as we had so much to catch up on as we hadn't seen each other in six years. I had to know what she was going to ask me at the café.
[] hey guys! Amanda and Alesha are going to be meeting for coffee, so what do you think Alesha is going to ask Amanda? I really like the brother and sister dynamic between Simon and Amanda.
