Alesha looked at the picture on the ultrasound scan. There was her child that she was carrying. The one she didn't want to be pregnant with at all. Her eyes were filling with tears as she looked at the screen and saw the fetus.
"Would you like to hear the heartbeat, Alesha?" The ultrasound technician asked. Alesha nodded her head once, almost invisible.
"Yes, she would," I supplied. I didn't know why Alesha wanted to hear the baby's heartbeat when she knew she wanted the child out of her. Alesha was here today for the abortion but she had scheduled herself for an ultrasound to see the child before she aborted him or her.
The heartbeat began to emacipate in the microphone of the ultrasound scanner pressed into Alesha's stomach. Alesha had already developed a slight baby bump, the roundness showing when her shirt was lifted up. Her tears flowed harder from her eyes and she tried to wipe it away. We knew that she was exactly ten weeks pregnant with the baby and the baby was developing normally.
Her hand went up to her eyes and she wiped away the tears. I squeezed Alesha's hand to let her know that I still supported her and she looked at me. Her eyes were fearful from what she was seeing. There was a child that was in her and she wanted to get rid of it. The idea of having the abortion must have been terrifying for her.
The machine was shut off and the heartbeat left the room suddenly. Alesha's aromach was wiped clean from the gel by the technician and Alesha sat up. She was still crying silently, the tears sparkling in her eyes.
"I understand that you're here for an abortion of the child that you're carrying," the technician said as she looked at Alesha. Alesha nodded in response to show she understanded what was about to happen to her.
We had been told that as soon as the ultrasound machine was shut off, Alesha was going to be put under a local anaesthetic so she would feel no pain as the abortion would be happening. She knew that the drugs they were going to give her were going to make her loopy when we were going to leave the hospital after she would be observed for an hour to make sure that there was no side effects from the drugs.
"I don't think that I can go through..." Alesha paused before she spoke again, "through with the abortion."
"Shall I cancel the appointment?" The technician asked, slightly shocked. I was shocked as well. I hadn't expected Alesha to say this as well because I had been under the impression she didn't want the child.
"Yes," Alesha replied. The technician left the room and Alesha put her shirt down. "I can't go through with it, Amanda. Not after seeing the baby and hearing it's heartbeat. I was crying because of it."
I smiled weakly. That had been the same reasons why I hadn't gone through with my abortion of Lexi. I didn't want to live with that regret and I was glad I didn't go through with it. Lexi had been one of the best things that had happened to me when I had been in uni with Alesha.
"That's good then, isn't it?" I replied. "You want to keep the baby for sure?" Alesha nodded, a smile spreading across her face. She got off of the examination table and she attempted to take the wrinkles out of her shirt. "Do you want to go to your apartment then because the kids are there?"
"Yeah. We can tell David that I'm pregnant for real now," Alesha replied. I stood up from my seat and I brought Alesha out of the exam room. We scheduled her next ultrasound, her twelve week one, and found out her due date since she was going to keep the baby.
Alesha was going to be due on May twenty eighth, three days before Theo would be one year old. We had gave the man at the desk the date that Alesha had conceived and he was able to figure out Alesha's due date. We left the office and went outside, bundled up in our jackets.
It was cold out and the wind was blowing. It could be a romantic night for us to be inside and possibly make love if Alesha was ready. We hadn't gone past kissing the top of each other's breasts if we were snogging without our shirts on. Alesha didn't want to take her pants off yet around me.
We drove to Alesha's apartment, passing the warehouse where she had gotten raped in. Alesha looked away when she had seen the building coming up on her side of the car, not wanting to be reminded of what had happened. We got into her apartment around ten minutes after we left the hospital and David was on the couch with Theo in his arms.
"Hey, David. Do you want me to feed him?" I asked, reaching my arms out to take my son. He nodded and handed me Theo. I sat down in an armchair and I positioned Theo to breastfeed. David looked away as Alesha told him that she was going to keep the baby. I got Theo latched on and David was shocked at Alesha's news.
He had the same look on his face that I most likely had when Alesha had told me.
She gave the same reasons of why she wanted to keep the baby that she had told me in the examination room. David smiled and he asked if he could touch Alesha's bump. She nodded and she sat down beside David. He placed his hand on Alesha's stomach and his eyes lit up when he felt the bump.
Alesha called out for our daughters and they came running into the living room. She told them that she was pregnant and Lexi couldn't tell their class just yet because Alesha wanted to and she let them touch her stomach while I fed Theo.
I noticed that Alesha had a small smile on her face when Azura's face lit up when she told her that she was going to have a baby. I was happy that Alesha was happy about keeping her child.
[] hey guys! Alesha has changed her mind about the baby. She's going to be carrying to full term! I have a little bit of a plot twist planned. What do you think is going to happen next and what did you love about this chapter? Bye until the next chapter!
