Bilbo P.O.V
After being rescued, Myra and I were separated. I went to Gandalfs side while Thranduil kept her by his. As the princess, she had to be with her people. The fight was stopped when the ground shook. giant worms broke through the surface and released a horde of orcs. Myra looked nervous but quickly composed herself. The Dwarves ran to the front to create a blockade with their shields. Myra began shouting at Thranduil in elvish.
"The Elves. Will they not fight?" I asked as Gandalf tried to reason with Thranduil. He was still shocked until Myra took command. Eventually, he came to his senses and gave the order. The elves dove over the Dwarves to fight the orcs.
"Um, Gandalf. Is this a good place to stand?" I asked as the fight unfolded. He didn't answer me as I looked around. Myra was fighting alongside Thranduil on their horses. They were cleaving through orcs; but it wouldn't be enough. Ogres were easily taking out entire battalions.
"Azog, he's trying to cut us off." Gandalf realised aloud. "To the city! Bilbo, this way." Gandalf shouted as I quickly followed him. It was a race to reach the city but the Orcs had already destroyed the wall. I hoped that we could still make it in time to help.
Myra P.O.V
Thranduil had foolishly spent some of our army attacking Dain. We had suffered some losses before the Orc appeared. At first, Thranduil didn't want to do anything but he quickly realised that it would be certain death. We had some of the army attack the Orcs directly while the rest supported with volleys. I stuck with Thranduil as we protected each others backs. We were completely surrounded by Orcs and a few of our men. It was impossible to reach Gandalf and Bilbo on the other side.
We weaved through the field, avoiding grapples. They had blinded an ogre and used them as battering rams. If we hadn't moved out of the way in time, we would have been crushed. Dain ran through the field smashing Orcs with his hammer. I shot a few orcs as they tried to pull him off his boar.
"Mín carnt vin hi. Ennas arn tun limb." (We cannot win here. There are too many.) I shouted to Thranduil as I beheaded some Orc
"Dol an i othrond, hi! " (Head for the city, now!) Thranduil commanded. We both raced to the city. I couldn't sense Gandalf or Bilbo nearby. The only place they could have gone was the city.
As we entered the city, the orcs tried to stop us. They climbed onto Thranduil's moose which allowed him to swiftly decapitate all of them. However, we rode into an ambush as his moose was shot down. I immediately dismounted my horse as Thranduil gracefully tumbled forward. She smartly hid in a nook as we were surrounded. Thranduil and I stood back to back as the orcs encircled us. We took all of them on as we slashed their throats. I had our back while Thranduil had our front. We had killed almost all of them when the royal guard appeared. They immediately surrounded us as protection while we all scanned the area.
"I must find Gandalf and Bilbo. Hold the city for as long as you can." I order him as I left the group
"Always protecting mortals. My men will hold it as long as possible. Though I doubt that we can continue for long." Thranduil replied
"I know. I hope that it will be enough time to turn the tide." I answered before making a hard decision, "You may leave when you feel that the casualties are too high. I will not drive us into extinction for one battle. Not when the war is going to begin."
"Lothron i Fen'heral nurn oír cín pias." (May the dread wolf never hear your steps.) Thranduil wished me as he bowed. I was suprised at his sudden kindness. I suppose that he didn't want to leave on bad terms.
"Cin sui eithel. Lothron ho nurn gad- cín seng." (You as well. May he never catch your scent.) I replied before following my ring to Gandalf.
Thorin P.O.V
With the battle looming over us, I began to worry about the safety of my home. I had three armies after my gold. Our fortifications were strong so we could wait it out. I had no doubt that the elves and Dain would prevail. I roamed around the halls looking for Myra but I couldn't find her. Eventually, she would come out of her hiding place. I decided to rest on my throne.
"Your own people. Thorin, they are dying out there." Dwalin said with urgency
"There are halls beneath halls within this mountain. Places we can fortify. Shore up, make safe, yes. Yes, that is it. We must move the gold further underground to safety." I answered as I headed for the vault
"Did you not hear me! Dain is surrounded. they're being slaughtered Thorin. You're own wife is out there fighting an impossible battle." Dwalin yelled which caught my attention. " She and your child will surely die if we do not act. Azog will drag her to Mordor where only a slow and painful death awaits." Dwalin continued
"Myra is probably with Gandalf. She has an entire army at her back. She will survive this fight. Many die in war. Life is cheap...but a treasure such as this cannot be counted in lives lost. It is worth all the blood we can spend." I answered
"You sit here in these vast halls with a crown upon your head and yet you are lesser now than you have ever been." Dwalin insulted me
"Do not speak to me as if I were some lowly dwarf lord as if I were still..." I said as I began to break down
"Thorin look at you." Dwalin whispered
I am your king!" I yelled as I sloppily drew my sword
"You were always my king. You use to know that once. You cannot see what you have become." Dwalin reminded me
"Get out before I kill you." I commanded him. He left giving me one sigh as I went to the gallery of the Kings.
I began walking the halls as everyone's advice replayed in my head. I was overwhelmed with their warnings. The last voices that I heard was Bilbo and Myra's pleas on the wall. I kept telling myself that I wasn't my Grandfather, but it didn't work. I heard Gandalf warning me that this would be the death of me. Smaug swam underneath me before the floor melted. I watched as I struggled to get out. But, all my struggles just made me fall deeper before I was swallowed whole by the treasure. I immediately threw the crown off my head.
"Myra! What have I done?! Please, please still be alive. I'm so sorry." I screamed in agony as I dropped to my knees. "Oh, no. Bilbo." I quickly realised. I took off my coat and heavy plate armour. With my sword in hand, I made a beeline to the wall.
"I will not hide behind a wall of stone, while others fight our battles for us!" Kili shouted at me. "Tis not in my blood Thorin." He croaked as we stood face to face
"No, it is not. We are sons of Durin and Durin's folk do not fly from a fight. We go head on despite the odds like your Aunt is doing now." I answered before giving him a comforting tap on the head
"I have no right to ask this of any of you... Will you follow me, one last time?" I asked solemnly. I quickly got my answer as everyone got up with their weapons high. "Thank you. Bombur blow the battle horn. Dwalin knock down this wall." I said. They all nodded their heads in agreement.
"It's good to have you back." Balin said as he held my shoulder
"It is. I just wish that I had listened earlier to stop all of this." I replied before I asked my most pressing question "Myra, how is she? Is she still..." I tried to ask as I felt a massive lump in my throat.
"Thorin, she seemed fine. She was fighting with Thranduil for the most part. They were holding their own until they left for the city. We lost sight of them after that. Knowing her, she probably left to regroup with Gandalf and Bilbo." Balin replied
"Thank you. At least we have an idea of where she went. Lets go get save our family." I said which brought a massive smile on his face
