Myra P.O.V
Moving through the city was hell. At every turn, I encountered orcs. The minions were easy to kill but they had massive numbers. I managed to save a few people along the way. I urged them to barricade themselves in the Great Hall. I accompanied them to the door for their safety. I eventually made my way back to Gandalf and Bilbo. They were fighting a horde of orcs near the old market.
A pack of orcs separated us. It was up to me to kill them. I slit the throats of the two oblivious lackeys before the rest of the group noticed me. I rolled under their swings and swept one of their legs. One of the Orcs tried to charge at me but I shot out vines which slammed him into the ground. I blocked a stab aimed at my chest. I pivoted to the side to stab him in the chest as I clothespinned his friend. The friend was dazed which gave me time to slash his throat with both of my daggers. Gandalf finally noticed me and raced over to me. we heard Azog blow a battle horn and ran to the wall to see what was happening.
Azog was positioning his army to crush Dain. He had nowhere else to go but against the walls of Erebor. They would most certainly die and Azog knew this. He waited a while before giving the attack command. The army began to move forward until the Battle horn of Erebor sounded. Moments later, the wall came crashing down and the company sprinted out to the fight. I began to smile wide knowing that Thorin had finally regained his senses.
"The dwarves, they're rallying." Bilbo realised
"They're rallying to their King." Gandalf happily announced. We only caught a glimpse of the charge before returning to the fight. The Orcs began to push back so we raced to the front lines.
Thorin P.O.V
The company followed my charge into the frey. Dain called on the rest of his army to follow us. We fought as one solid army. We were starting to drive the Orcs back as we drove a wedge through their center. I eventually found my way to Dain.
"Dain!" I yelled as I blocked an attack
"Thorin! Hold on, I'm coming." He yelled back as I killed a few orcs. Between the two of us, we were able to kill the remaining orcs and talk peacefully.
"Hey cousin! What took you so long?" He joked as we embraced. "There's too many of these buggers, Thorin. I hope you've got a plan." He asked
"Aye, we're going to take out their leader." I answered as I grabbed a stray goat. "I'm going to kill that piece of filth."
"Thorin, you cannot do this. You're our king." Dain pleaded
"That is why I must do it." I answered before ushering Dain to get closer. "My line is secure with my wife. She is with my child, my heir. You will still have a King. She was last seen heading for the city. If you find her, please look after her for me until I return, please?" I asked Dain as I gripped his shoulder
"Aye, I will protect the both of them with my dying breath. You have my word, cousin." Dain promised me before his mind returned to Azog. "Then how do you plan to fight your way single-handedly to Ravenhill?" He asked just as Balin, Dwalin and the twins arrived in a chariot. With that, we headed for Ravenhill.
Bilbo P.O.V
Just as the dwarves began to rally it seemed like the tide had changed. Everyone began fighting as one unit. That finally gave us the edge against the Orcs. We were finally able to push them back slowly. Gandalf and Myra switched between using their magic and swords. Myra used her vines to subdue a few orcs to avoid being overwhelmed. She gracefully dodged their attacks and killed them as if it were nothing. She moved so fluidly like water that it was amazing to watch. I was faring fairly well due in part to some recent training from Myra and the company.
We helped secure the front line which led to the Great Hall. Naturally, we began to roam the city for other weak points. As we ran around, we couldn't find any major openings. The people were doing well, enough to shoot a monster and have it squish the legion behind it. It looked like we were going to survive after all. I called for Gandalf when I noticed four people riding for a hill. He came swiftly after taking out an orc.
"And, Fili, Kili and Dwalin. He's taking his best warriors." Gandalf said as we watched them
"To do what?" I asked
"To cut off the head of the snake." Gandalf answered which made Myra nervous. We were soon joined by Legolas and Tauriel. Myra ran to them and tightly hugged Legolas.
"There is a second army. Bolg leads a force of Gundabad orcs.they are almost upon us." Legolas warned us
"Gundabad orcs?! This was their plan all along. Azog engages our forces then Bolg sweeps in from the North." Gandalf acknowledged
"The North?! Where is the North exactly?" I asked as Myra went pale
"Ravenhill." Gandalf answered as he moved toward the hill.
"Ravenhill?! Thorin is up there! And Fili and Kili, they're all up there." Bilbo reminded us. Gandalf ran to find Thranduil, hoping for reinforcements.
"My Lord, dispatch this force to Ravenhill. The dwarves are about to be overrun. Thorin must be warned." Gandalf pleaded to deaf ears. I saw his peoples bodies littered on the floor And understood his actions.
"By all means, warn him. I have spent enough elvish blood in defense of this accursed land, no more. Besides, my princess ordered me to retreat as I saw fit. I will not sacrifice my entire people for one battle." Thranduil answered as he left
"Myra, what did he mean by that?" I asked her as Gandalf angrily turned to her
"I told him to retreat when he felt that the casualties were too high." Myra replied before turning to Gandalf. "You know that we will need everyone for the war to have a chance at survival. I cannot spend 1/4 of my entire army for one fight. There will be no one to hold the east. If we fall, there will be nothing to stop him from overrunning Lothlórien, Rivendell and Gondor. I know I sound cold but it must be done to protect us from a much larger threat." She reminded him
"I'll go." I offered
"Don't be ridiculous. You'll never make it." Gandalf said
"Bilbo, Gandalf is right. If anyone is going, it'll be me." Myra argued
"You're with child. Thorin would never forgive himself if something happened to you." I reminded her before returning to Gandalf. "Why not?" I asked
"Because they will see you coming and kill you." Gandalf answered irritatedly
"No they won't. They won't see me." I answered as he eyed me suspiciously
"It's out of the question. I won't allow it." Gandalf replied
"I'm not asking you to allow me, Gandalf." I retorted as I began to take off. However, Myra tightly grabbed my shoulder to stop me.
"Then, you're not going alone. Besides, I need a bodyguard. Let's go." Myra said as she gave me a death stare. I knew there was no point in arguing and stayed silent. We ran together for Ravenhill with Myra taking point.
