*Peeta's POV*

One night, I am fast asleep, a beautiful night it was because no nightmares showed up to haunt me. But I woke up when the bed shifted, meaning Katniss must've been awake.

I didn't wake all the way up, just sort of opened my eyes and was closing them again when Katniss shoved my shoulder, a little harder than I would've liked.

"Peeta," she said frantically, with worry in her voice, "Peeta get up, my water just broke."

I jumped straight out of bed and pulled a pair of jeans on, and a shirt. Katniss tried to get out of bed, very unsuccessfully, so I picked her up and carried her downstairs. I set her on the couch, and quickly dialed her mom. Then Haymitch.

*Katniss's POV*

"Peeta! Get off the phone! We need to go NOW!" I felt bad for yelling at him, but I was in A LOT of pain. Getting a tracker dug out of my arm was less painful than this.

"I'm sorry, honey. I'm just calling Haymitch."

He finished up a moment later, which seemed like far too long. He picked me up and carried men out to our car, set me in gently and buckled my seatbelt. Then he rushed to his side and drove us to the hospital.

"Peeta, please hurry," I whined, before screaming. Being in labor is really painful.

"Katniss, I'm going as fast as I can. Just focus on your breathing. You're going to be okay. I promise." After a moment he reaches down and grabs my hand, and I probably squeeze too hard, but I'm kinda not worried about him right now.

He carries me into the hospital and yells for a room to be ready. The receptionist takes us to a small room that she explains is for the delivery, and afterwards we'll be moved to a bigger room.

"Katniss, I'm going to call a few more people," Peeta says.

"No, please don't leave." I whimper.

So he sits in a small chair and calls Gale and Johanna, Annie and Finnick, and Effie.

Then a doctor I don't recognize comes in. I ask if they could please get Delly. He said she's with another patient right now, and I say I can wait. Peeta tries to reason with me, but I will not deliver this baby without Delly.

Finally, Haymitch walks in, followed shortly by Delly. She apologizes for being late, and I tell her it's okay. Haymitch complains, "Why am I here again?"

"You said you wanted to," I snap back, "And given that you'll have to be the grandfather figure to Elizabeth, I thought you might want to attend. So shut up and keep your eyes north of the equator."

"No problem."

Soon, I finally reach 10mm, and Delly tells me to start pushing. This is probably the worst part. But I do as she says, and I push really hard, and Peeta helps me remember to breathe and stuff, and after what seems like forever, Delly exclaims, "I can see the head! Just one more big push, Katniss."

So that's what I give her. Any strength that is in my body I used to get this baby out. And then, I hear the soft whimper of a baby. I lay back and just cry and smile, and then Delly hands me the baby. "She's beautiful," Delly says, "What's her name?"

"Elizabeth Marie Mellark." We reply in unison.

Peeta wraps his arm around me, and we look at our beautiful baby. It is the best day of my life.
