Telling Haymitch

*Katniss's POV*

I was so happy. Like, I mean, it's not like I didn't believe we wouldn't get married or anything, but it really happening gave me little excitement attacks all day. I couldn't wait to start planning and just started talking at a million miles an hour. Peeta soon stopped me.

"Katniss, I'm excited too, but shouldn't we tell some people before we start designing a cake?", he says calmly.

"Oh, right," I say, feeling a little stupid, "Of course. Who should we tell first?"

"Well, Haymitch is the only person we don't need a phone to contact, so why don't we start there?"

"Okay!!"

As we walk down the street to Haymitch's house, I am worried about what we will say, and what he will say, and if he'll think we're crazy or..... Peeta interrupts me thoughts.

"Katniss, are you okay? You look a little pale."

"I'm fine I'm just a little worried," I admit.

Peeta laughs. "About what? Haymitch? I promise you whatever Haymitch has to say will have little to no effect on what we do."

That helps me relax a little.

I approach the door, hand-in-hand with Peeta, and knock. Haymitch opens the door quickly, which reminds me of how happy I am that he stopped drinking after the rebellion. Sober for a year, which is probably the longest ever.

" Well hello. Can I help you?" Haymitch asks.

"Yes, you could start by inviting us in," Peeta replies

"Ah, yes. I suppose so." Haymitch opens the door and we follow him into the living room. He sits in a chair and we sit on the couch opposite him.

Peeta starts calmly, "Haymitch. Katniss and I have some news." And then he pauses.

"Well are ya gonna tell me or do I have to guess?" Haymitch replies.

"We're getting married!" I burst out, full of excitement.

"Well if that wasn't obvious, I don't know what is. Everyone expects you to. It wasn't as if y'all was gonna break apart or something."

"We'll need help planning."

"I know just who to call" Haymitch says with a grin.
