*Peeta's POV*

A matter of seconds after handing Effie off to Haymitch, I see Katniss fall to the ground. I run to her side as quickly as possible.

"Katniss," I note that she's breathing pretty heavily, "What's wrong, what happened?"

"Peeta, my water just broke."

As soon as she says it, I realize I'm sitting in a puddle. I scoop her up and turn to Effie and Haymitch, saying, "I'm so sorry, we've got to get to the hospital."

Effie gives a slight smile, and at that I run to put Katniss in the car. She lets out a scream as I put her in her chair, then again when I shut my door.

"Katniss, it's okay," I say as I start the engine, "We'll be there soon."

"Peeta stop trying to comfort me and drive! I have done this before!" She says before screaming again.

So I hit the gas, and we are flying down the street to the hospital and I pull under the awning to get her inside yelling to the receptionist, "The baby's coming! She's in labor!"

So the nurse helps me set her in a wheelchair, and she wheels her to a room while I park our car.

I run back inside and go to help Katniss get out of the dress she's wearing from the wedding, and help her into hospital gowns. Then we walk into our room.

It's again small and I stand next to Katniss and hold her hand while she's having contractions, and finally Dr. Maria comes in to see where we are in the process.

"She's only at 7, and it doesn't look like she's going to be able to push the baby out for safety of her and the baby. This is going to have to be a C-Section."

I don't like the sound of that. Not at all.

"Are you sure? That's the only way?"

"I'm afraid so, Mr. Mellark. It's for the best"

So off the wheel her into the operating room, and the look of distaste on Katniss's face says this is not where she wants to be.

I'm allowed in the room, but I have to wear blue scrubs. When I come back from changing, I see they have laid Katniss on a table, with a curtain that covers from the top of her belly, up.

I stand behind the curtain, but if it fancies me, I can still see what's going on on the other side.

I hold Katniss's hand, and since she's under a lot of medication, I talk to her.

"Katniss, it's going to be alright. You're doing great so far, just hold my hand. You can talk if you want."

"We...... should get some.....of this medicine......for the house." She says, her talk slowing.

I do laugh at that, however, then I peek to see where we are in the delivery, and I wish I hadn't. I decide right then and there that I am not the type of guy who likes blood and guts. I never liked before, because of the games, but I guess maybe I thought it'd be different.

It wasn't different.

Then I'm just looking in Katniss's beautiful eyes, and thinking about how much I love her. She's so beautiful right now, even though her hair is messy and sweaty and her makeup is runny from sweating.

But she looks beautiful regardless.

And just as I'm losing myself in her wonderfulness, I hear the faint cry of a baby. I turn to see our son being held up by Dr. Maria, and after I cut the cord, she hands him to me, and I take him over to Katniss.

"Look there, there's your mommy."

And Katniss reaches up her finger which he grabs, and then her eyes roll back, close, and she lays still on the table.

HAHAHA I AM EVIL! ENJOY THE SUSPENSE!
