*Lizzie's POV*
It's an hour before Josh comes to pick me up. He was going to drive me, him being in the 11th year at school, but I thought it'd be nicer to walk.
I'm currently sitting at my desk with a mirror in hand, trying to figure out what to do with my appearance.
I know I'm a beautiful girl, and I don't need to be told by someone to know it. I'm prettier than most of the other girls in my grade, and Josh is drop dead hot, so we make a gorgeous couple.
I decided to just accentuate my eyes a little with some eyeliner and mascara.
Problem is, I don't have any. So I sneak across the hall into my parents room, into their bathroom, and steal it out of my Mom's bag of makeup.
It's fine, I tell myself, She never wears it anyway.
So I take it back to my room and use it as gently and sparingly as possible.
I think it looks good.
Then, since my hair already naturally falls in soft curls, there's not much to do there.
Time to pick out an outfit. I search my drawers and closet for half an hour, looking for the perfect match. I finally decide on a navy blue skirt that falls just to my knees, a white cami underneath a sea foam green sweater with navy blue little whales on it. I finish it up with white flats.
Finally, I hear the door bell ring, and I rush down to answer it. Mom gets there first, because she was already downstairs, and talks to Josh briefly before letting me leave with him.
As we walked down the street towards the center of town, we were just talking, laughing, having a good time.
But one thing. Our hands kept brushing each other and I have a feeling it wasn't a coincidence.
Just as we reached the town, he hooked his pinky with mine.
Okay, I thought, No biggie. It's not a big deal. It's just a pinky.
Until we got to the restaurant when he full on held my hand did I get worried. My Mom would have a cow if she saw this. But she's not here, and its innocent. So it must be fine. I'm 15, I can make decisions on whether this is okay or not.
We walked in, and it was just a nice little restaurant, with an indoor and outdoor seating area.
“Hello," the man at the front said, “Table for two?"
“Yes please," Josh answered, “And could we sit outside? She likes the sunsets."
I turned to him. I'd never said anything of the sort. I wasn't particularly fond of them at all, it was my Daddy who liked sunsets. But I guess he was trying to be romantic or something.
He turned to me too. “Unless you want to sit inside instead."
“Um, no outside should be fine. It's cool enough outside now."
When we were seated, we ordered drinks, and sat holding hands over the table. I honestly had no idea if I should be squeezing, or if I was squeezing too much, so I just pulled my hands back into my lap. I felt kinda awkward after we started holding hands.
After, pulling away, it felt more relaxed, so I started having fun again. We talked, he mad me laugh, it was a lot of fun.
The food, on the other hand, was AMAZING. I loved every bit of it, and ate all of it. I got a salad to start, and then ordered a fish called Tilapia (Josh told me it was delicious) with green beans and a lemony butter sauce.
For dessert, we shared a spice cake with cream cheese frosting and honey drizzle sauce.
I was almost too full to walk home, and after a while I was too tired, so I climbed on Josh's back and he carried me home.
At my front door, I climbed down, and before going inside, Josh put his hands on my shoulders lightly.
He said, “I think you looked gorgeous tonight, and I'd definitely like to do this again sometime."
His voice was slowing down, and I got kinda nervous. My heart started racing and then h moved one of his hands to the side of my neck. My Mom was just inside. She couldn't see this.
So I quickly said, “Thanks Josh, I'd love to do this again. Have a nice night." and went inside before he said anything.
It was probably rude, but I knew I couldn't let him do whatever he was planning on doing.
“Hey honey! How was dinner?" Daddy asked.
“Oh, it was great. Thanks for letting me go. But I'm rather tired and should probably head to bed. I'll see you tomorrow."
And I gave him a kiss on the cheek and headed upstairs, leaving thoughts of Josh behind me. I didn't want our first date to be our last because of his wants.
