Sam's POV

I watch in horror as her body plummets toward the ground. I can't move from fear and confusion, and I hate it. Suddenly, something black flashes past me and iff the deck towards Kathryn. That shocks me even more. Soon, all the Avengers, Director Fury, and Sebastian have lined up at the railing, watching as the man wraps his arms around Kathryn and turns so his back is toward the ground. I cringe, knowing what comes next. The big impact, which will no doubt be gory.

Contradictory to my thought on what would happen, the pavement that the man landed on cracks and he seems to be fine. I can't really tell because I'm almost a thousand feet above this.

Natasha swears loudly. "We need to get down there. I can't believe cold and heartless just saved her life."

Steve, Bruce, Sebastian, and Clint follow suit, while Tony actually puts on his suit. He looks at me weirdly. "Why didn't you save her?"

I shake my head, still very confused. "I- I don't know." I'm ashamed, to say the least. I know deep down that my dad would've saved her, he did with my mom.

I run inside, pull in my suit, and run back outside. My dad and I dive off the balcony together, almost racing to reach Kathryn and apparently Loki on the ground. Everyone has gathered around them staring in disturbed awe. Disturbed that Kathryn would just try to kill herself and in awe that Loki would just jump off a building to save his daughter that he left and held captive.

I guess Loki isn't exactly a heroic person from all the information I've been gathering, but something tells me it's not all his fault. The Tesseract, maybe? Whatever that is...

Loki starts to wake up. He sits up slowly, cradling his daughter. He looks at her with a tenderness in his eyes, tears brimming in them.

"Is she okay?" Director Fury asks. Weird, I've never seen him display feelings, especially not for a girl he just met a few weeks ago.

Loki nods. "She broke her arm, but she's not one to submit to a broken bone." He stands up, still cradling her in his arms. Loki is alot taller than I expected, and also stronger. The impact should've killed him; instead, it left a giant crater on a New York street.

Loki smiles at me, more of a smirk than a smile. "I'm a god, did no one tell you?"

My eyes widen, causing him to laugh. "I'll take that as a no."

Loki looks around at the Avengers and Sebastian. "Are we going to go inside? A broken arm is not something you leave without attention."

They snap back to reality, probably amazed that Loki has compassion in his godly bones. Everyone hurries inside, leaving Sebastian and I.

"I get the feeling no one tells you anything," Sebastian says.

I nod, almost depressed. "I'm a little kid. I don't need to know anything apparently."

He nods. "Take this as a lesson of survival of the fittest. You're what, eighteen?"

I nod again.

"You're a man, take control. I was just like you when I was eighteen. My parents died in a car crash. So I got tough. Joined the Elites. Alot can happen in two years." Sebastian says. He laughs quietly.

I think for a few minutes, then smile and walk inside. Sebastian cracks his knuckles before following.

Sam's POV continued

Kathryn is sprawled across the large leather couch, breathing peacefully with her arm in a temporary splint. Loki sits next to her, his eyes closed in a light slumber. Everyone else has gone to bed, except Sebastian and I. I stare listlessly at my laptop, open to a blank page.

Finally, I break free of my lazy position and find my suit. I half smile at the thing; a tight, black suit with thin metal plating and some wires. My dad and I designed it together when I was fifteen, an alternative to the slightly more bulky machine my father likes to wear. My mom called it a woman attracter, which fifteen year old me wasn't to thrilled about, but now the thought brings a grin to my face. After suiting up, I sneak quietly outside.

I rocket into the air, light blue fire eminating from my palms and feet. Soon I'm over the ocean, feeling the cool, salty mist on my face. It feels good to be free, to leave everything behind. Now I can almost understand why Kathryn fell.

I turn around after an hour of flight, finally getting tired. I land as gently and quietly as possible on the balcony, I pull off the mask and set it on my mom's countertop.

"Fancy seeing you awake in the wee hours of the morning," Kathryn says from behind me. I whirl around. She smiles at me with her head cocked to the side. She folds her arms carefully across her chest.

I laugh quietly. "Fancy seeing you awake." I pick up a bottle of scotch.

Kathryn raises an eyebrow. "You're eighteen, put the alcohol away. We're on earth, not Asgard."

I smirk. "You got me. But hey, we're pretty close to Asgard. I mean, we've got the queen and Loki."

She sighs, sitting at the bar. "You be grateful that you look mighty fine in that suit, because you almost got your jaw popped."

"Oh, you like what you see? Should I pose?" I put my arm behind my head and my other hand on my hip.

Kathryn laughs. "This world is full of playboys." Then her eyes get cloudy.

"What's wrong?" I ask, sitting next to her.

"I'm really confused. I came here because I was bored of Asgard and I wanted to find my father. Next thing I know, I've helped give an antivirus to superheroes, gotten kidnapped, found my father, and tried to commit suicide."

"Shoot. The virus. We might need to refresh people's minds about that."

Katie's eyes widen. "Yes, we do." She takes my hand and pulls me into the main room.

Samthryn!!!!! It'll be awkward for Sebastian, but oh well. He's a man. So I think I've figured out enough plot points to continue and I'd like to thank avengers101 for commenting and helping boost my morale with this story! I'm too lazy right now, but I'll dedicate the previous chapter to you!

Anyways, vote and comment!!! It means alot and only takes thirty seconds!!

Maybe I'll only update when chapters get to five votes... That would be evil...

I love you all and I truly appreciate you!
