Taemin x reader (fluff)

Car radio was playing as you, Taemin and your little daughter were driving to a little mountain camping site. Alright, it wasn't that much of a mountain, but enough to look like it. You had planned a nice family vacation so Taemin can rest and you all can spend some quality family time together. You laughed as Taemin was trying to sing along to a foreign song.

"Shut up, you can't sing," you teased playfully. Taemin only laughed at that and mentioned his solo albums, like it was nothing.

"Okay, okay," you chuckled and checked on c/n on the backseat.

"Everything okay?" you asked. She nodded eagerly and smiled with her slightly crooked teeth, like children often have before their teeth change. You turned back and looked outside through the window. Sun was shining with a few small, cotton like clouds scattered around the sky. A light breeze moved tree branches left and right. You couldn't wait to arrive and have a sweet picnic in the fresh air.

"We're here!" Taemin exclaimed after driving past a sign which read: "Bluewater camping site"

He pulled over and stopped the car. C/n started jumping in the backseat to show her obvious excitement.

"Can you take the basket? I'll help c/n out," you asked Taemin, opening the car door.

"Of course."

When everything had been taken care of, Taemin closed the car doors and the three of you went to search for a picnic place. You held c/n's tiny hand as she pulled you forward.

"Wait up!" you heard Taemin yell. You stopped and waited for him, c/n still pulling at your hand.

"I thought about there. What do you think?" you asked Taemin when he reached you and pointed towards a large tree, providing a nice shadow from the sun.

"Looks great! Let's go, I'm starving," Taemin smiled and rushed towards the tree.

"I told you to eat breakfast!" you exclaimed, but he didn't even bother to listen.

"Come look! We can see the waterfall from here!" he said happily after putting down the basket.

"Waterfall?? Where?? I want to see!" c/n exclaimed, pulled her hand free from yours and ran to her father as fast as she could. Taemin took her on his shoulders and showed her, to which c/n's mouth formed a "wow" expression.

"Mommy, look! A waterfall!"

"I can see, dear," you smiled and put your picnic blanket on the grass. Taemin let c/n back down and helped you take food out of the basket.

"Damn it! I forgot cups in the car," he cursed and got up.

"That's a bad word! Mommy, daddy said a bad word!" c/n whined and pointed at her father. You looked at Taemin's flustered face and gave him a chuckle.

"And as a punishment, you have to go and get the cups," you smiled with an evil undertone. Taemin playfully rolled his eyes and disappeared from the shadow.

You were arranging sandwiches when c/n got up and ran off. You didn't pay more attention though. You were sure she was running to Taemin. When you took a packet of biscuits from the basket as the last thing, Taemin arrived with three green cups in his hand.

"Where's c/n?" you heard him ask. Now you raised your head and looked around.

"Didn't she run to you?" you asked, confused.

"No, I haven't seen her," Taemin answered, put down the cups and started scanning the area with his eyes.

"C/n!" you shouted, getting up as well.

No answer.

"C/n!!" Taemin called.

Still no answer. Where could she have gone? You felt fear rising.

"C/n! Where are you?!" you called and started walking away.

"I'll go that way," Taemin said and went to the opposite direction, calling his daughter's name.

With every step you took and every unanswered shout, your heart started beating faster and faster. Why didn't she answer? You only heard Taemin calling her, like an echo to your callings. Suddenly a bloodcurling scream made your insides twist.

"MOMMY!!!"

Without thinking, you took off and ran towards the scream as fast as you could. The terrified screaming got louder and louder as you were approacing the lake. Hundreds of thoughts ran through your head, each one worse from the last.

Your path ended on a boat dock bridge, which started swaying under your feet from the impact you had created with your running. You would've fallen in the water if Taemin hadn't grabbed you.

Your heart sank when you saw what was happening. C/n was in a canoe, in the middle of the lake with no paddles. She was terrified and crying. You felt the panic which made your heart thump against your ribcage. You were shaken out of your shock when Taemin ran past you and jumped into the water. You held your breath, as if it was you, who was underwater. Taemin swam to the surface and continued to move to his little baby girl.

You let out a sigh of relief when Taemin got to her and started pushing the canoe towards the land. You kneeled down on the bridge and helped the canoe, with a sobbing child inside, back to its place. You took c/n and sat down, rocking back and forth with her in your arms.

"Baby, where did you go? Mommy and Daddy were looking for you everywhere. Don't make us panic like that ever again," you talked softly, turning your eyes to Taemin who was climbing onto the bridge, completely soaked.
