Part 48
I’m waiting to hear back from my mom how meeting Harry went. I couldn’t sleep all night. I am on pins and needles waiting to hear if she likes him. Family is so important to me and I value her opinion so much. I know she will love him, how could you not? I’m not going to lie. I feel slightly jealous she got to see him and I didn’t. It’s been 3 months since I’ve seen him and it’s been rough.
I haven’t Skyped with my mom so I’m starting to think she can’t figure it out. Just as I am about to go into the kitchen for something to eat she finally connects. As soon as she sees me I can tell she’s getting emotional. We’ve never really been away from each other this long before, and it’s forever. “Please don’t cry, mom, I’ll lose it if you cry.”
She takes a few deep breaths to try to calm down. “I know, sweetie, I’m trying. I just, I just miss you.”
“I miss you too. And now that you figured out Skype we can do these calls more often.”
She smiles. “I’d like that. So I met Harry.”
“And?”
“He’s a baby!”
I slap my forehead with my hand. Really? That’s her first impression of him. “Mom, I told you he’s 19.”
She laughs. “I know, I’m joking. He’s very charming. All of those boys were very nice to me. I got to talk with Harry a bit before the concert started. I cares for you very much.”
This peaks my interest. I wonder what they talked about. “What did he say?”
“Oh, you know, normal boyfriend stuff.” I can tell she’s trying to hide something and I’m. Not going to pester her. “I was very impressed with him. You know I’ve been worried about you and you dating someone famous but I feel better about it now.”
“That means a lot, really. I am so happy with him. And the rest of the guys take care of me.”
“Yes, that Louis is…interesting.”
I giggle. “That’s one way to put it, mom. So did you like the concert?”
“It was…loud. Your cousin had a great time though.” I actually didn’t know my cousin went. “You know I couldn’t go to a concert like that by myself.”
“You would have been fine. So what are your conclusions?” Shea been pretty vague about the whole thing which tells me there is something she’s not telling me.
“He’s great. I can tell he loves you. He’s charming and seems like he has a good head on his shoulders. I can see why you moved there for him.” She pauses and then says something really fast, “he’d be a great addition to the family.”
“I’m sorry, what?”
“Nothing, dear, nothing. Well I should get going. It was so nice seeing you. Maybe after they’re done touring you two could come visit.”
“I’d like that. I’ll talk to you soon. Miss you and love you.”
“Miss you and love you too.”
I close out Skype and text Harry. ‘My mom loves you. Good job’
