I slept for several hours, and went to the window as soon as I woke up. I sat on the ledge and jumped. Unfortunately, it seems that I have really bad timing. Right as I landed from my jump, the man who had beaten me the day before walked out of the door. Cursing silently to myself, I quickly ducked behind a bush, praying that he hadn't seen me. I could only hope that he'd leave soon whether that be going inside or leaving the property. I wasn't sure how long I stayed there, but when I finally didn't hear any movement, I peaked my head out from behind the bush.
That was probably the biggest mistake I've ever made. Unfortunately for me, he was still there...looking directly at where I had poked my head out. It felt like time froze for a moment as I stared at him in shock and he looked at me with a knowing expression as if he expected me to be there. As if he knew this would happen. I now had two options: stay knowing he'd beat me again, or run and hopefully get away. I decided on the latter.
I grabbed a rock that was nearby and threw it at him to hopefully distract him for even a moment. It wasn't big, but it wasn't small either. As soon as the stone left my hand, I bolted, running as fast as I possibly could. Adrenaline was rushing through my veins, and my heart was pounding like never before. I was scared. More scared than I ever had been before. If I got caught, it's likely that he'd beat me to death. I was in a life or death situation. I didn't know where I was going. I didn't know what I was going to do if he caught up, but I knew one thing: I could not stop running.
Despite my desperate want, I refused to look behind me. It would just slow me down. If I did, I would slow down. If I slowed down and he was behind me, he'd catch up. If he caught up, I'd be dead meat. I turned as often as I could, trying to shake him off my trail. My legs were killing me, and my breath was heavy and shallow. I wanted so badly to stop, but I refused to.
After what seemed like an eternity of running in a desolate landscape, I finally got to a town, but that didn't slow me down. I kept going, dodging around buildings to increase my chance of getting away, but that didn't work out like I thought it would. It's amazing how one wrong turn can put you looking straight at the face of death. In this case, it was a dead end. Having nowhere to go, I turned around, praying that I had lost him earlier.
So much for my luck. There he was, staring at me and smirking. He slowly walked closer as I backed up into the wall. With nothing else I could possibly do to save my life, I did the one thing I knew I could. I scream bloody murder. I used the rest of my energy yelling for someone, anyone to come save me. This man was about to kill me.
He stood a few feet in front of me and raised his hand to hit me. I closed my eyes tightly, waiting for the pain to come, but it didn't. I slowly opened my eyes to find a woman standing in front of me, holding onto the man's wrist tightly. "Get out of here. Now. I'll handle him."
Wait...I know that voice anywhere! "Suyung?! What are you doing here?!"
