I sat down on one of the other couches on the room. My elbows rested on my knees and my fingers in my hair. All of this was seriously giving me a headache. Suddenly, my vision blacked out.
Instead of the living room, I saw a courtyard. In the courtyard, there was three people: Kangmin, Minsu, and that man. Was this another prophecy?
Before I could tell what was happening, Minsu had moved in front of Kangmin and fell to the ground, a pool of dark blood gathering around his body. Kangmin's mouth formed words that I couldn't hear, but I somehow knew what he was saying: "Minsu-ah!"
As I stared at Kangmin next to Minsu's seemingly dead body, the gaze of the man turned towards me, his voice deeper than it really was. Almost as if he was possessed. "You can't escape death. Either they die, or he dies, or perhaps you or the other girl. Make wise choices. It's up to you."
I came back to my senses in a cold sweat. I thought I could only see prophecies in my sleep...Minsu and Suyung were still having small talk with Samuel awkwardly watching. I stood up slowly and started walking towards the kitchen, my legs wobbling as I did.
I quickly got a glass of water and sat down to recover from whatever just happened. I sighed softly, taking a long sip of water. Flashbacks came to me from my first vision: Jihun in a pool of blood clearly coming from his head, Hayoung with a gash across his chest, Taeseon dead in an attempt to protect two of the other boys, Jisung and Kangmin under their leader to signify his failed attempt at saving them, Wooyeop leaned against a wall with a shadowed figure approaching ominously with a sharp object in his hand, Siwoo and Hakmin missing but undoubtedly dead, Hohyeon and Hyunwoo right in front of me with their eyes rolled into the back of their heads and a white substance coming from their mouths. I couldn't live without any of them, but—I had a flashback of the last vision I had—could I bare to lose him either?
I was too focused on my thoughts to realize someone walking up behind me. A hand landed on my shoulder, making me jump. Looking over, I was relieved to see Hohyeon.
He sat next to me and put a hand on mine. "You okay? You look pale."
I just nodded, not wanting to bother him with what was going on in my head. He saw through my facade, however, saying, "we're in this together. You know that right? You have to be honest with us. If you need someone to talk to, I'm here. I won't tell the others if you don't want me to."
"I'm just...thinking." I looked up at the ceiling. "I had another vision. Minsu...He died in Kangmin's place. Then I was told that either all ten of you, Minsu, Suyung, or me would have to die. What I saw in my first vision...I can't let that happen. There's no way I could lose all ten of you, but...something tells me that I won't be able to live without Minsu either. Clearly letting my best friend die is out of the question, so my only choice would be..."
He squeezed my hand, making me look at him. "Don't worry about it too much. Just let things happen and when it's time, you'll make whatever choice is best. That's how fate works. All these possibilities, but it always works itself out in the end. Sure, it may be hard to cope with at first, but it will work out. Besides, do you realize where you are? You're talking to a wolf. Even if we are killed, who's to say we won't come back as ghosts or something. Right?"
I nodded, smiling a little. Had he always been so good with words? Without thinking, I stood up and wrapped my arms around him tightly. "Thank you. I really mean it. All of you have done more for me than I could ever do for you."
He hugged me back gently. "Don't mention it, and we don't do it to be repaid. We do it because we love you. All ten of us have loved you since we were kids, even if you don't remember."
A week later, I hadn't had anymore visions, and everything has been calm excluding an occasional wolve-vampire argument. Suyung was doing well too. Her wound had healed, and she was able to walk around with crutches. She'd promised me that she'd teach me how to summon my wings when she got stronger. Unfortunately, our momentary period of calmness and peace wouldn't last very long...
