Once my father was defeated, the wall of fog around the boys dissipated. Let's just say that they were a bit flabbergasted about what they were seeing. I can't blame them. I felt the same way when a similar situation happened to me. Once everyone had been ushered inside, we explained what had happened, which didn't really help with their surprise.
Taeseon was the first to recover from the shock. "So let me get this straight, our little y/n, Samuel, and the sister they just met time traveled so that the new sister could double cross their dad?"
"Well...when you put it like that..." I was at a loss for words at Taeseon's summary of our story. It wasn't inaccurate, but still...Wow. That happened. Just a few months ago, I was just a normal high school girl. Now I'm surrounded by werewolves, a vampire, my half-goblin-half-angel brother and half-goblin-half-witch sister who were born at the same time as me, and my half-werewolf-half-fairy best friend. A lot has changed. I've literally watched almost everyone I love die then rewinded time to bring them back to life. Not everyday that that happens. "I also got my real memories back. Well, at least some of them. I still don't remember dating Minsu or which ever of the other ten of you I apparently dated."
The room suddenly got quiet at the mention of my supposedly romantic past. Taeseon coughed and excused himself to go get something to drink. When he did, the only two people that were older than him (Jihun and Hayoung) followed after him. After a minute or two, the two oldest came back in, Hayoung breaking the awkward silence. "Ah...Y/N, Taeseon needs your help with something. It's something only you can help him with."
I just nodded, not voicing my objections about there being something only I can help with, unless it has to do with prophecy or whatever else I'm supposed to be capable of as a sylph-fairy-goblin hybrid. When I got into the kitchen, Taeseon was staring (very intently) into a glass of water, his cheeks slightly red.
Worried, I sat next to him and put a hand on his shoulder. "Taeseon? You okay? You almost look sick."
He smiled a little before speaking. "I'm not sick. I'm just a bit nervous and almost confident that I'll be embarrassed by the end of this conversation. Don't worry about me."
I turned so that I was more fully facing him. Not sure what to say, I decided to make an attempt to ease some of the tension. "You? Nervous? Aren't you like next in line to be the alpha? How can the next alpha be nervous?"
Taeseon let out a soft chuckle before rubbing his neck slightly, proving that he was, in fact, nervous. For what? I was about to find out. "Because the alpha needs a mate, and it'll be a bit difficult to convince the pack that it's okay for the alpha's mate to be...something besides a werewolf. Plus the current alpha is on his last leg of leading. Old age is getting to him."
I was stuck between shock that Taeseon found someone that he wanted to be his "mate" and sorrow knowing that his dad would have to step down because of something like old age. "Taeseon...you found someone to be your mate?"
His head tilted to the side for a split second before going back to normal. "I wish it was that easy. She doesn't even know that I have any sort of romantic feelings for her...and I've already had to let her go once because of the pack's disapproval. She's a lot stronger now, so it's more likely that they'll accept her, but I need her to accept me first. Worst case scenario, I step down and hand the back over to Jihun."
My hand instinctively found itself on top of Taeseon in an attempt to comfort him. "Then I guess you should tell her as soon as you can, right? So you have more time to convince the pack?"
He nodded, turning his hand over to encompass mine. "That's why I asked Jihun and Hayoung to get you to come in here. Back in the day, before I was so worried about taking over the pack for my dad, we dated. My dad pulled me aside one day and brought up the issue about you not being a wolf even in part. I played the jerk so you'd break up with me, knowing I wouldn't be able to do it myself. Even though I know you don't remember, I feel horrible. I hurt the only girl I've ever loved just because she's the species just for her to forget all about me. You're probably not ready to answer yet, and I don't want you to. There's now way that after everything that's happened recently that you're able to answer this, and I'm sorry for dropping this on you. I just had to get it off my chest. Just give it some time and then tell me. Okay?"
Before I could answer, Taeseon stood up and left.
~~~~~Weeks Later~~~~~
It's been weeks since Taeseon confessed to me, and he's been basically avoiding me ever since. Of course, when we hang out as a group, he doesn't have a choice. I mean, he doesn't make eye contact or anything, but he can't avoid me in a group outing. Finally, I got tired of it. I got Hayoung to help me plot a way to get me alone with Taeseon without him just leaving. Naturally, I'd need to tap into my inner actor and Hayoung with his.
Hayoung's plan was for me to act like I was hurt (he said from tripping down the stairs, but I'll argue that point) and he'd handle the rest. Hayoung decided it would be best to do it in my room and say that Hayoung saw me fall and brought me to my room. That way, we'd have more privacy. Being the natural prankster he is, Hayoung accomplished getting Taeseon to go into the room. Honestly, I felt really bad. Honestly, I'd fallen asleep, so when he came in, I was asleep, which probably made it seem even worse.
When I woke up, he still sitting beside the bed, holding one of my hands in his. I couldn't hold back his smile. "Taeseon...I have an answer for you, and I've never been more sure about anything in my life. If you can convince the pack to accept me, then I agree. Honestly, I could've told you within a week of you asking if you hadn't avoided me for so long, but part of what made me realize it was not talking to you or seeing you as much."
As I spoke, his mood visibly changed from agonized to elated in just a few seconds. Without even saying anything, he stood up and kissed me. I laughed a little afterwards. "By the way, I'm not hurt. Hayoung planned this whole prank out, and about the unconscious thing, not part of the plan. I fell asleep."
Taeseon laughed, sitting next to me on the bed as his arms wrapped around me and his lips pressed against my head. "Looks like I'll have to make myself the second oldest soon for him scaring me so bad."
