"Wake up little human. Now isn't the time to rest."
Who was that? That voice sounded so familiar, yet so foreign to you. Have you heard it before?
"Come on now... Let me see those bright, (E/C) eyes."
The voice was gentle, yet almost stern. How can someone be gentle and to the point?
"Child... Awaken immediately."
Your mind was in a bit of a haze, so doing what was asked of you was no easy task. After a lot of excruciating moments of face-scrunching, you finally managed to peel your eyes open.
The background looked just as you had remembered it; black and empty. The difference was that Asriel was nowhere in sight and was instead replaced by a familiar-looking human child.
You rubbed furiously at your eyes, blinking them as you stared up at this... figure...
Aha! Of course! You remember now! This human child... they were the faded figure you had seen so many times before! They weren't faded-looking anymore though, and instead looked very much real.
Your realization seemed to affect how you stared, for the child before you started to snicker.
"Hehe... Do you recognize me? I'm impressed, to say the least," the child spoke, a smile appearing on their face.
You had so many questions, but honestly couldn't speak a single one. Well, there was one you might be able to communicate about.
Looking around as if looking for something, you ended your search by turning back to the figure and tilting your head in confusion.
"Hm? What are you looking for?"
You sounded out the name you had heard, only coming up with a noise that sounded like 'as'.
"Hm? Oh, you mean 'Asriel', don't you?" The figure nodded their head in understanding following your own head bobs. "Yes, yes I see. You're worried about him, aren't you? Worried he'll kill you again?"
Kill? You haven't heard of that word before. What did it mean? You questioned your mysterious friend about it.
"Hehehe, you poor child. 'Kill' is what happened to you. You are 'dead'. That's why you are here with me instead of out there with him. However, this unfortunate circumstance will not last forever, fortunately. I will bring you back, no need to fret."
You cocked your head to the side in puzzlement, now seeing two bright, yellow, rectangular buttons appear before the child. They shone with the same glow as the stars you had seen with this figure the many times before.
You couldn't read, so you couldn't see what the buttons said. You slowly pulled yourself up on your feet and came over to the other child's side, looking up to gaze at their features. Because they weren't ghastly-looking anymore, you could clearly tell what they looked like.
The figure, which you had assumed before that they were around Sans's height, was in all actuality slightly shorter than the eldest skelebro, around the smaller Asriel's height instead. Their brown hair was short and seemed to be cut just above the shoulders, their bangs going to their brows. Their eyes were an unnatural ruby color, just like the goats. Their outfit consisted of short brown shorts, brown leggings, and brown boots that went up mid calf to match. The only non-brown thing they wore was a sweater that matched Asriel's and a now-noticeable locket — glinting a gold color — around their neck.
