Faster, faster still. Continuing along the stone sidewalk your parents and the guard ran. Your only chance was to get to the stables and obtain horses. Then, and only then, would you all have a chance to escape.

There were shouts coming from far behind as though the enemy soldiers had spotted them. This wasn't great news.

"Keep pushing, your majesties! I can see the stable from here!" The guard reassured them, although his voice was quite breathless.

They slung open the stable door upon arriving and raced in to a terrifying sight. The bodies of two stable boys were lying motionless and pale with death on the floor from sword wounds. It was also most noticeable that the horses were missing.

"By god! The scoundrels have stolen our horses!" The knight spoke aloud everyone's thoughts.

"Does... Does this mean we'll die?" Your mother asked shakily, looking quite pale herself.

"No. I won't let that happen," your father gripped his wife's shoulders and looked her square in the eyes.

Even though his words were brave, in moments the enemy caught up with them, and were flooding around the outside and a couple charged right on in.

Both unsheathing swords of their own, your father and the knight fought valiantly, parrying blows and pushing the opposing side back. Alas, there was just too many.

Your mother cradled you tightly in her arms, mouth agape as the knight fell from a stomach wound. Her eyes were bugged out and full of fear.

Your father had to take a step back for it was just too much on his own. The soldiers took steps back just the same, only not for the same reason.

They parted for a soldier dressed differently than the rest. A commander to be supposed. He then began to remove his helmet...

You awoke to the sound of someone whispering softly and the feeling of your back being rubbed gently.

"Little one... It is time to get up now."

Your mouth parted into a yawn and your eyes fluttered open to see Toriel sitting on your bed side, having a soft smile.

"Ah. Good morning, little one," she said. "Its time for breakfast. You slept a while yesterday. I wonder what you did to make you so exhausted, hm?"

Unconsciously your arms went up and gestured for the goat monster to pick you up, and she did so without hesitation.

"My are you snuggly today!" Toriel gave a small laugh when you had wrapped your arms around her neck and buried your head in it.

She carried you out of the bedroom and into the living room. Placing you down on a chair much to your displeasure, she whisked away to the kitchen, deciding to fix you eggs and applesauce again.

Your hands found their way to your eyes and you rubbed at them. You blinked and gazed around the room sleepily. It honestly took you a bit until you realized you were in the kitchen and not your room.
