*Gasp*
What's this?
An early chapter?
What a way to end it all!

---------------

The whiteness slowly ebbed away after a couple of moments. Your eyes once again had to adjust to the light change. You blinked multiple times in your attempts to do so.

Looking around to see if anything changed, you quickly took notice that you were now sitting instead of standing and your (F/C) soul had disappeared as well as the button you had pressed in your attempts to save Asriel.

Asriel! Chara! It was coming back to you now. Where were they, and were they ok?

You soon noticed the two children not too far off from where you were seated. They seemed to be talking to one other. Or, more like comforting. Asriel looked back to his normal height; back to Chara's size.

You hauled yourself up on your feet with much effort before tottering towards the duo. As you approached, you begun to notice certain things that you couldn't possibly have from far away.

You noticed that Chara was doing most of the talking with Asriel making small inputs here and there with teary eyes. You also noticed something else that you haven't before; Asriel had a golden locket too. It was just like the one Chara wore.

Asriel noticed you when you were only a few feet away and he immediately got nervous, his nervousness alerting Chara of your presence.

"Ah, child, you are awake," they turned around to face you, a smile spreading across their face. "Are you feeling alright?"

You gave a small nod, now motioning towards them and letting out a small whimpering noise.

"Hm? Oh, are you asking about us? We're doing quite well, thank you." They responded with a small nod of their own.

You moved your eyes to look to Asriel, tilting your head slightly for his confirmation as well. He didn't speak, but simply bobbed his head, all the while ringing out his hands.

A wide smile formed on Chara's cheeks, "I believe this battle was a success. I finally came back for one last hurrah and saved my brother from doing something he would've regretted."

You gave a grin and nodded. Asriel shuffled nervously where he stood, knowing full well he would've indeed regretted it.

"Well now..." the human began. "There is only one thing left to do." They turned completely towards you. "You need to go home, hm?"

You tilted you head to the side. Home? Yes, yes you wanted to go home. This place was too blank for your liking. However... What would happen to Asriel and Chara?

As if reading your mind, Chara immediately put your thoughts to rest. "Do not fret about us, child. We will be alright. While you belong in the real world, we belong here. Both Asriel and I are truly dead; we cannot even think of returning with you."

You had an expression of disappointment. Surely this wasn't really the case, was it? Chara did have a serious tone - despite the smile - however.

Mutterings from Asriel were heard, but the words were not clear. Both you and Chara paused and looked towards him.

"Asriel? Would you like to say something?"

"Ch-Chara, I... I can't keep these souls..."

"Hm?" They tilted their head. "Why not?"

Asriel attempted to look more courageous. "I-It wouldn't be right. All the monsters... th-they deserve to be free. A-And the human souls... it would be an in-injustice for me to keep them."
