The mid-morning light bathed the Grand Magic Games arena in warm light, creating a misleading mood of relaxation.
The actual mood was quite the opposite, cheers rising up from all sides as Chapati welcomed everyone back for the second day of the Grand Magic Games.
"Now for the first match for Day Two! The lovely Lucy Heartfilia of Fairy Tail VS the angel of Blue Pegasus, Sherry Blendy!"
(A/N: Anyone else remember the Galuna Island arc? Let's see if Lucy can beat Sherry once more! Or am I the only one who remembers that...?)
Screams of encouragement echoed around as the two girls walked into the arena. Sherry was waved and blowing air-kisses to the crowd, whereas Lucy walked along with no enthusiasm in the slightest, as if mentally preparing herself for the battle.
"Go Lucy! You can do it!" Natsu yelled enthusiastically. Lucy straightened a bit.
"Same rules as yesterday! You may begin, now!" Chapati called, the magical microphone amplifying his voice to echo around the stadium like a foghorn.
"Lucy looks pretty nervous..." I remarked nervously.
Down in the arena, Sherry smiled and said something I couldn't make out. Lucy called something back. Sherry nodded, still smiling.
"Doll Attack: Mud Doll!" the pink-haired girl suddenly swept her hand across the dirt before her.
The ground started to move, and from it, a monster made entirely out of mud emerged.
It looked around, confused for a split second, then lumbered clumsily towards Lucy.
"Do something, Lucy!" Erza muttered, "If she stands there any longer, she will be in serious trouble!"
As if on cue, Lucy whipped her hand to her belt, and grabbed a key.
"Open! Gate of the Ram! Aries!"
Aries popped into the arena.
"I'll do my best to help, Miss Lucy! Sorry!"
Aries swept her hand around, and waves of sticky, pink fluff shot towards the Mud doll, decreasing it's speed and sticking it in place. Aries disappeared, and Taurus charged forward.
"Huh? I was too busy watching the Mud thing to notice Lucy summoning Taurus!" I gasped. Erza nodded proudly.
"I think that was the plan..."
Taurus was now striking the mud doll over and over again with his axe. Sherry took a step forward.
"Don't think you've won yet! Doll Attack: Puppeteer!"
Taurus stopped attacking the disheveled mud monster, snorted menacingly, and turned on Lucy instead.
Lucy stumbled backwards in dread, "Not again...!"
"What the hell just happened?!" Natsu yelled in outrage.
"Sherry took over Taurus... It's like mind control!" Wendy whispered in horror.
"Taurus, snap out of it!" Lucy pleaded, grabbing three keys from her belt. One was Taurus's, but I couldn't see the others.
Taurus gave an angry bellow and charged at Lucy, who whipped his key up and around, forcing his gate closed.
"Open! Gate of the Goat! Capricorn! Open, Gate of the Lion, Loke (A/N: I know his star sign name is 'Leo', but Lucy calls him Loke sometimes, right?)!"
Capricorn and Loke appeared at Lucy's side.
"Capricorn, attack Sherry directly, Loke, you too!"
"Wow..." I breathed. Lucy and her Celestial Spirits were definitely a force to be reckoned with.
Both spirits sped forwards, both throwing their individual attacks at Sherry, who was then flung backwards before she could complete another 'Puppeteer' spell.
Lucy sped forwards, and called Capricorn back. Sherry was climbing to her feet, groaning.
"Star Dress! Leo form!"
"There it is!" Natsu grinned, folding his arms across his chest, "Star dress. Grants the celestial mage the power of that certain spirit!"
"That's amazing!" I marvelled. Looking down at Sherry, I could tell that instead of amazement, she was shocked.
"Regulus Impact!"
"Regulus Lucy Kick!"
A bright golden explosion lit the arena and I flung my arms up to cover my eyes from the light.
Sherry had been smashed backwards, but still she shakily rose to her feet, spitting stands of bright pink hair from her mouth furiously.
"Great job, Loke!" Lucy grinned. Leo smiled, flipping his hair boastfully.
"Don't praise... yourself yet!" Sherry coughed, "Doll Attack-"
"Uh oh..." I muttered, "That can't be good..."
"LUCE! LOOK OUT!" Natsu hollered, slamming his fist down on the stone beside me, and consequently showering me with tiny chunks of rock.
"Quick, Loke! We have to stop her from casting the spell!" Lucy panicked. Loke bounded forward, light already surrounding his fist as he desperately tried to reach Sherry to stop her.
"-Puppeteer!"
"Loke, No!" Lucy screamed as Loke skidded to a halt in confusion. Sherry rose to her feet once more, grinning victoriously.
Lucy took a step back, weary eyes trained on Leo, but the zodiac spirit stayed where he was, still glaring in Sherry's direction. Sherry frowned.
"What are you waiting for? Go attack her!" she snapped at Loke.
Loke clenched his fist, reigniting the golden light, but still didn't make any offensive moves at Lucy.
"The bond between Loke and Lucy... It's too strong to be broken..." I whispered. Down below, Sherry stamped impatiently.
"Attack her, you useless thing!"
Loke turned to Sherry, "How about NO?"
Sherry's eyes widened as he slammed his fist into her, knocking her back.
"What?! My Puppeteer spell didn't work?! How?!"
"Now for the final blow! Regulus Lucy Kick!" Lucy shouted. The arena exploded in golden light.
After what seemed like an age, the light faded away, and Lucy was declared the winner.
The stadium erupted in cheers, loudest of them all being Natsu, as Lucy hurried off and Sherry was helped away.
