Chapter 16: Erza VS Mitsuki

Day three of the Grand Magic Games.

So far today, we had seen Minerva of Sabertooth totally kick Hibiki of Blue Pegasus's butt. The match had barely lasted four minutes before Minerva won.

Now it was Erza's turn to fight.

"I really want to see what kind of magic this Mitsuki girl has!" I beamed eagerly as the two women did the epic walk of fame out and onto the battle arena.

"Yeah, I've never even heard of her before!" Lucy exclaimed, peering down at the figure.

Mitsuki had dark-ish purple hair and hazel eyes. She didn't wave or even smile at anyone as she walked out, then again, neither did Erza.

The two stopped about a meter away from each other.

"Nice to meet you," Erza said, holding out her hand for Mitsuki to shake.

"Same here! Just warning you, I won't hold back!" Mitsuki grinned. Erza gave a slight smile.

"I wouldn't expect you to."

"They're smiling," Natsu noted, "I'm scared now. Whenever Erza starts smiling, it's generally a good idea to run."

I snorted with laughter.

"Let the match begin!" Chapati's voice chirped. I looked over and saw the fool dancing around the commentator's box, much to the annoyance of the other unfortunate judges.

Mitsuki held out her palm.

"May I have the first move?"

I turned to Lucy, "What's she saying?"

"I don't know," she shrugged, "But Erza's nodding."

Back down in the arena, Mitsuki rose up onto her tip toes. Water spiraled up around the mage.

"Water!" Juvia remarked appreciatively.

"Water God's Current!" Mitsuki sang. A horizontal water tornado shot at Erza, who only just managed to dodge.

"Water God Slaying Magic? Impressive," Erza said, landing back on the ground. Mitsuki nodded. Erza smiled.

"My turn, I take it?"

Mitsuki nodded again, "Of course."

"In that case, Requip!" Erza was enveloped in a bright light as her armor changed. When she was visible once more, her armor green and black with a dangerous looking sword. What looked like a gleaming crown of sorts was visible in her scarlet hair.

"Armor of the Sea Empress!" Juvia breathed, "It lowers all damage done by water related attacks!"

"Wow, that Mitsuki girl has no hope!" Natsu laughed victoriously.

"Erza, it really is an honor to be able to fight you! No matter who wins," Mitsuki smiled. Erza nodded.

"Right back at you."

"Let's get on with this. Water God Swarm!" The purple-haired female snapped her fingers.

Multiple torrents of water whipped towards Erza slamming her backwards, despite her armor.

Erza whirled her sword around, cutting through the water and ran towards Mitsuki, who hadn't expected the Queen of Fairies to bounce back so quickly.
Erza brought her sword up diagonally in a sweeping motion. A razor-sharp wave of water shot towards Mitsuki, knocking her backwards onto her butt.

"Wow! I'll have to be more careful! Water God's Shark Jaws!"

"What even is that?!" Gray yelled.

Several sharks, made entirely out of water (and all with enlarged teeth), swam through the air at Erza, snapping at her uncontrollably. Erza skidded backwards at the sharks closed in.

"Requip! Heaven's Wheel Armor!" Erza called, and once more, she was surrounded in a bright light, which faded when she had requipped into her Heaven's Wheel Armor.

"Blumenblatt!" Erza yelled as she zipped past the sharks, slashing at Mitsuki with two swords, while many more destroyed the sharks behind her.

"What...! Okay?!" Mitsuki spluttered as she toppled backwards, "Nevermind! Water God's Bellow!"

This time, Erza had no chance to dodge, being too close to her opponent. The attack crashed into the scarlet haired warrior, sending her flying.

Mitsuki quickly leaped to her feet, hair flying around her face, "Now's my chance! Water God's Tsunami!"

A huge wave of water rose up and roared towards Erza, who was still in the process of climbing to her feet.

"Erza! Dodge!" Lucy yelled desperately. from beside me.

Over the roar of the wave, none of us heard Erza cry 'Requip!' once more.

The wave crashed down, completely soaking the first few rows of spectators, who all squealed from the sudden onslaught of cold liquid.

I turned my gaze to glare at Mitsuki. She was smiling victoriously, but then her smile faded, to be replaced by a look of shock and horror.

I looked around wildly to see what was causing this reaction, and couldn't help but grinning.

"Erza's Adamantine Armor. Basically stops all attacks from hitting her!" Natsu breathed out a sigh of relief.

The scarlet-haired knight stood tall, just as Mitsuki hurled another 'Water God's Current' at her.

"Requip! Lightning Empress Armor!"

Erza jabbed her staff forward, shooting a beam of lightning at the water. This caused the water to spark, and the electricity raced through the water and up Mitsuki's arm.

Just like that, the battle was won.

"Erza! That was so flippin' cool!" I shouted, dancing around Erza once she had come back up to the balcony. I was basically ignoring the next battle (Yukino vs Nichiya) as it was pretty obvious Yukino would win.

"She surprised me with that first attack of hers. I didn't expect Mitsuki to be a God Slayer," Erza confided.

"Juvia thinks no one expected that!" Juvia agreed, eyes wide.

"I know that's a celestial spirit, but now I'm craving fish," Natsu muttered, staring down at the battle between Yukino (who had summoned Pisces) and Nichiya (who was failing at everything).

"I don't know, but I think Yukino would be pretty annoyed if you ATE one of her spirits," Lucy sighed, poking Natsu. The battle was over moments later, resulting in Yukino emerging victorious.

"All the solo battles are now over!" Chapati reported as Yukino rejoined the Sabertooth team. "Tomorrow's event will be the 'Labyrinth' or 'Maze' event. Hope you're all prepared! Points will be awarded depending on how well the competitors did! Thank you all for coming, and make sure you come again tomorrow!"

The stadium erupted in hearty cheers as the holographic board flashed the scores and points.
