Chapter 29: Juvia Gets a Love Rival

"GRAY-SAMA BELONGS TO JUVIA!" Juvia hollered furiously, clenching her fists.

"Oh really?!" Haru snapped back, dark curls bouncing around her shoulders, "I don't see the two of you dating!"

Juvia's face went red with anger and embarrassment, "SHUT UP, FOUL TEMPTRESS! Gray-sama only has eyes for Juvia!"

"Why don't we ask him, then?!" Haru retorted, sassily folding her arms across her chest. I gave Gray a bemused smile.

"I actually feel sorry for you," I informed him, "It looks like Juvia found a real, hardcore love-rival!"

Gray groaned and slid lower in his chair, letting his arm flop over his eyes.

"I told you that you should have given Juvia a straight answer," Erza said in an 'I told you so' voice, smiling sympathetically at the ice mage as she walked past.

"Look on the bright side!" I called after her, "It's not Natsu and Gray fighting this time!"

The scarlet-haired knight laughed and continued on her way. I turned my attention back to Gray.

"Is Haru just as 'clingy' as Juvia-san?" I asked. Gray nodded.

"Yes... But they've been too busy fighting to do as much cuddling as they would like," he mumbled, "Thankfully."

I rubbed the back of my neck, "You okay, though? With two crazy stalkers fighting over you, I mean..."

Gray ran his fingers through his hair, "It's been... Chaotic."

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING TALKING TO MY GRAY?" Haru demanded right behind me, voice so loud I fell off my chair in fright.

"I- uh... I l-like someone else!" I squeaked in protest, scrambling behind my upturned chair to hide from the furious Haru.

"You should probably leave while you can," Gray informed me, holding out a hand to prevent Haru hugging him.

I heeded his warning, scrambling away, calling a hurried 'Good luck' over my shoulder as I went.

In the background, I could hear Haru shooting compliment after compliment at Gray.

"GRAY-SAMAAAA! DO NOT BE SWAYED BY THE WORDS OF THIS BEAST!" Juvia screeched.

"This is never going to end, is it?" Kinana sighed heavily. I dropped down onto one of the high seats at the bar.

"Nope."

It had been only two days since Haru joined Fairy Tail, and unfortunately, she hadn't attempted to hide her affection for Gray.

Juvia had found out, and made it perfectly clear that she wanted no one touching her 'Gray-sama'.
So yeah. Gray's life had turned to living hell, and he was caught up in the middle of the war for his feelings.

"Any new job requests come in yet? I'm not sure I can stand sitting here listening to those two arguing over Gray all day," I complained.

Kinana shook her head apologetically, "Sorry, nothing new."

I rested my head on the wooden table.

"Skie, if you want something to do, I'm about to go into the town for some shopping. You could come with me if you want!" Mirajane offered. I sat bolt upright.

"You're a goddess," I told the white-haired mage. She picked up a small basket, then headed for the doors, me in close pursuit.
We dodged around Juvia and Haru, and made our way out and into the sunshine.

The comforting sounds of the normal town hustle and bustle reverberated around the buildings as Mira and I walked casually down the streets, occasionally pausing to inspect or buy something.

"So..." I said eventually, "How much does Haru effect your shipping plans?"

Mirajane frowned, "She will definitely cause some setbacks for the shipping plans, but Gruvia will become a reality!" With her last word, Mirajane raised his fist into the air in a gesture of victory.

"I'm working on making NaLu happening, too! Made some progress on that last job!" I laughed.

"Good work! Now we have to check in with Lisanna about GaLe! But I'll do that later, when we get back to the guild hall," Mirajane smiled.

"About the whole Gruvia thing... Maybe Gray and Juvia could go on a job together. Just the two of them," I suggested, smirking evilly.

"That could work..." Mirajane mused, "But what would we tell Haru?"

"I don't know... Maybe we could tell her that Juvia is sick and Gray took a solo job?" I murmured. Mirajane nodded eagerly. We both started laughing, drawing curious smiles from random passers by as they scooted around us.
