Chapter 21: I Eat Dirt

"I still don't understand why you all decided it would be a great idea to crush the living daylights out of the most injured member on the team!" I grumbled.

"Yeah... Sorry about that..." Lucy snickered, looking rather not sorry.

We were walking (as fast as we could - which wasn't very fast...) down the streets of the debris-strewn town.

Erza was supporting me, Juvia was getting a piggy-back ride from her 'Gray-sama' and Natsu was leaning slightly on Lucy.

"How long until we get to the stadium?!" Gray complained. Juvia rested her head on his shoulder sleepily.

"I wish Reedus was here so he could draw you two..." I smirked, looking pointedly at Gray and Juvia (or as I liked to call them; the Happy Couple).

Gray probably would have killed me right then and there if he hadn't been carrying the blue-haired water mage.

"Hey! Gray, look out!" A girl's voice rang out. Wearily, I glanced around and saw the mages from the Lamia Scale team hurrying towards us, a furious Lyon at the head with Chelia and Toby trying (and failing) to hold him back.

"Should've known that idiot would be mad if he saw me giving Juvia a ride," Gray muttered, edging slightly behind Erza to hide from the angry bull- I mean Ice Wizard... charging at us.

Erza turned and death-glared Lyon.

"The games are over!" she barked, eyes glittering with a threatening scowl, "Don't you dare try to start a fight!"

"You're scary," I whispered to Erza as Lyon stopped dead, eyeing the Requip Mage with a nervous expression.

"Yeah, you really don't want Erza to go ballistic," Natsu muttered darkly. Lucy poked him and told him to 'Shut up before Erza hears you!'

Erza chose to ignore these comments.

"We should all get back to the stadium, everyone will be waiting."

Of course, no one dared to disagree with the Queen of the Fairies.

The two teams started off again, and we all started chatting and laughing like we totally just hadn't been trying to kill each other not even twenty minutes ago.

Eventually the majestic door to the main stadium came into view, looming above us. By this time, we had also been joined by the Sabertooth team.

"Should we wait for the Mermaid Heel, Blue Pegasus and Quatro Cerberus teams?" Yukino asked, glancing back over her shoulder with a small wince.

Everyone looked around, shrugging indifferently.

"Nope!" Natsu grinned, placing both hands upon the cool metal.
He shoved outwards, and the doors creaked open.

Light spilled through the widening gap and separating the shadows all around us.

All was silent for a few, heart-stopping moments. Then, the stadium exploded with excited cheering and whistling.

"Walk of fame~" I snickered as I attempted to not trip over my own feet (which proved to be quite difficult)... Don't trip over like an idiot... Don't trip over like an idiot... Don't trip over like an-

I tripped over.

A ripple of laughter danced around the arena as Lucy pulled me out of the small crater in the dirt (that I had made with my FACE).

"Uh, are you okay?" she asked. I could tell she was trying not giggle herself. I put on a mock-hurt expression.

"I fall over, grievously injuring myself, and all you can do is laugh? And I call you my friend...!" I announced, flicking my hair dramatically. Erza stooped slightly so I could resume using we as balance support.

Lucy laughed, and I caught Natsu's eye from behind the blonde-haired female's back.
I grinned evilly as he snuck up behind the unsuspecting Celestial Mage.

"GOT YOU, LUCE!"

Lucy shrieked in surprise as Natsu hoisted her up onto his shoulders and began galloping around the arena like a drunken horse.

"THE SHIPPINGS!" I screamed in delight, "REEDUS, YOU BETTER DRAW THEM!"

"Please don't yell in my ear..." Erza mumbled in exasperation. 

Above me (up in the stadium), I could clearly make out Mirajane screaming her head off while she entered her 'Shipping Queen' mode.

"NALU IS HAPPENING!" Lisanna hollered in delight.

"LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! THESE ARE THE WIZARDS-"

"SHUT UP, CHAPATI! NO ONE CARES. NALU IS HAPPENING!" Bellowed Cana from the stadium.

(A\N: Cana's got her priorities right!)

Erza scowled and gave her a disapproving look.

"She shouldn't say that to the JUDGE..." she hissed, stalking towards the stairs, undoubtedly intending to yell at (the very drunk) Cana.

Only too late did I realise that Erza had been the one thing keeping my face off of the ground.

"Erza, you're my support!" I shrieked, flailing my arms around wildly like a scarecrow in a hurricane as I lost my balance, "Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope!"

A firm hand clamped over the back of my top, and hauled me back onto my (currently useless) feet.

"You should really learn to be careful..." Rogue muttered, diverting his gaze.

"I swear to the Celestial King, I am going to kill Erza! Actually, no... That wouldn't work... But still!" I muttered darkly as I threw a couple punches at the air. "Also, Rogue, define 'careful'?"

"I could drop you."

"Ooh, you wouldn't..."

The Shadow Dragon Slayer dropped me.

"YOU. SUCK!" I yelled through the mouthful of dirt I had just acquired.

I flopped around for a little bit before Rogue apparently decided he didn't want to watch my sad fish (A/N: *cough cough* Magikarp *cough cough*) attempts anymore, and helped me up again.

As I flailed around, I caught a glimpse of a dark-haired male smiling warmly at Kagura, who had just entered the stadium with the rest of her team. I vaguely remembered seeing the man the previous day. He was apart of Fairy Tail, too...
I frowned, trying to recall the details, but was immediately distracted by a loud voice reverberating around the stadium.

"THE GRAND MAGIC GAMES ARE NOW OVER! CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL WIZARDS AND ESPECIALLY THIS YEARS WINNERS... FAIRY TAIL!"

The deafening screams and cheers started up again, and I wondered how many spectators were wearing ear plugs...?

"Congratulations," Rogue smiled, raising his free hand to shield his eyes from the bright glare of the sun.

"Why thank you~"
