A/n: I think this is really bad, but I wanted to get something out. Most of this was written a while ago, and then forgotten.
Tw: Violence, injuries, blood, censored slur, homophobia, swearing.
"Who's that with tha Delancey's?" Race asked. The Newsies were lining up to get their papes and there was a new guy standing next to Morris.
"No idea" Jack shrugged "Looks bad" The boy was glaring and cracking his knuckles. His eyes locked on Race and he grinned evilly.
"I don't like him" Something about him looked familiar and the memory wasn't good.
"He'll probably be gone tomorrow I wouldn't worry about it" Crutchie guessed. Occasionally the Delancey's brought friends with them to the gate, they were always gone the next day

Race sold his last newspaper and started the walk back to Manhattan. He considered stopping by the Brooklyn lodging house to see Spot, but he had been on edge all day and just wanted to get home. He crossed the bridge waving at a couple of newsies he passed and finally was back in Manhattan. He heard someone running behind him and turned just in time to be shoved roughly into a alleyway. He ran into the wall and someone pinned him from behind. He struggled but whoever was behind him was much stronger. "What do you want?" His face scratched against the wall and his wrist was twisted the wrong direction.
"I'm here to teach you a lesson" The person spun around and he recognized the boy from earlier.
"You?!" Race asked "What do you want with me?"
"I told you. I'm here to teach you a lesson" The boy pulled him back and slammed him back against the wall.
"About what? You have to be more specific" Race joked "Are you here to teach me how to do math?"
The boy slammed him against the wall again. Race was getting tired of this, this kid need some new moves; Race decided to call him Slammy. "I hear you're a little f**"
Race froze "No I'm not"
"Nice try" Slammy punched Race in the jaw. That was going to leave a bruise.
"I don't know where you get your information but it's wrong" Race insisted, they had been so careful.
"No it's definitely right. You're the kid I found kissing some short kid in an alley"
"Oh" That explained why he recognized Slammy at the gate. When they first got together Race and Spot spent a lot of time making out in deserted alleyways. They had a couple close encounters but nobody actually saw them, until this kid. They got a little too distracted and hadn't noticed anything was different until someone exclaimed loudly behind them. They turned to find a boy staring at them and had immediately booked it out of there. The kid hadn't caught them and they thought they were in the clear, until now "That wasn't me"
"Really?" Slammy leaned closer "You're not a very good lier" Slammy punched him in the face again and Race realized he was bleeding.
"Why do you care who I kiss in alley ways?" Race asked.
"It's not right to be kissing boys it's wrong" Slammy said "And now you're going to pay" Slammy punched him in the gut and he let out a little whimper. This kid threw a good punch.
"No it isn't!" Race exclaimed. It probably wasn't a good idea to anger the kid that had him alone in an alley, but he was done with people telling him it was wrong to love a boy. "Why do you care if I'm in love with a boy?" A thought occurred to him "Also what's your name?" When the kid didn't answer he shrugged best he could while being pinned against a wall "Fine I'll call you Slammy"
