"Feel anything?" Lauren probes as the moon starts to reach its apex in the sky.

"No, do you?"

"I've learned to control it. You'll be fine, if you can control it."

"Thanks for staying with me."

"You're welcome, Katy. We should be getting to bed. We have a training simulation tomorrow afternoon. I can also introduce you to the rest of the household if you'd like."

"That'd be nice." I yawn and snuggle into my covers. Lauren turns over facing the giant windows, and her snores soon fill the room.

12am
Lauren's POV

I was awoken to the sound of crying. The bed was empty, meaning Katy was the one sobbing and whimpering.
I follow the dim light from the bathroom, and find her on the floor writhing in pain. "What's wrong, Katy?" The 17-year-old grabs Lauren's arm, puncturing the skin, while blood oozes down.

"I can't control it!" Katy roars, and I roar back, struggling to loosen her grip.

"Find an anchor. Anger, revenge, a family member. Just something! I don't care what!" Her eyes return to their normal color, and I pry her claws out of my arm.

"My anchor is you."

"Let's get you back into bed." I climb in after her, making sure she's facing the windows, and I pull her into me. I wrap her arm around me in a protective way.

"Night." She mumbles.

Katy's POV
Saturday

The alarm sounds at 6 the next morning, and Lauren immediately jumps out of bed, her eyes glowing.
I slide out from under the covers and light up my flaming heat, the fire licking up every part of my body. "Don't touch anything, especially with that." She points to my flame-thrower form.

"Is this a drill?"

"We never have drills on Saturdays."

"What's going on then?"

"I don't know. Stay here. I'll be right back." Lauren disappears out the door, gun drawn. I cool down, and the flames turn an iridescent blue. "Coast is clear, come on." She leads me out of the room, and down the hallway.

"You don't hear that, do you?"

"What is it?"

"Gun shots."

"Stay behind me, and stay in control."

"I'll try." The stairs are covered in muddy footprints, and the rugs have been severely torn. Several people stand at the end of the hallway, their eyes glowing. A woman with gray hair, runs up to Lauren, and they argue for a few minutes before storming off.

"Neveah wants to evacuate the house. The Hunters could be outside, waiting to pounce on us though."

"What now?"

"I don't know."
