Chapter 39

Katy

"Hey, guys. What's going on?" I walk into the kitchen and Tristan goes stiff.

"The most powerful creature on earth has been summoned."

"Adrianius?"

"You know him?"

"I-I think I met him last night. He said his name was Adrian."

"What'd he look like?"

"Tall, black hair, dark eyes, smooth talker." I say, rambling on about the demon from hell.

"Thanks for that description, Katy. Making me feel used here." Tristan mumbles.

"Sorry. I'm gonna go for a run. Anyone wanna tag along?" Selena and Elizabeth stand up, following me outside to where I shift into my black, fiery wolf.

Selena's wolf is slightly smaller than mine, but makes up for it in appearance.

Elizabeth's wolf is a dark, chocolate-y brown with blue eyes, and a large scar running from her hip to her knee.

I yip and bow down, wanting to play. Selena tackles me, but I throw her off.
'I am invincible. I am the queen of the hill. No one will rip me from my land.'I mind link to the other girls.

'Don't be so sure about that, Katy.' Selena says back. She tries again, but I jump out of the way.

"Here, doggy, doggy." I turn to face a boy holding out a tennis ball. I trot up to him, and mouth it. "Good dog."

"Jordan!" A woman calls from the bushes, which makes me turn around, and steal the ball. "Jordan, don't you ever run off like that. Your father will punish me."

"Look what I found." He points to us, and I drop the ball at his feet.

"Oh my! They're gorgeous. They must be lost."

"Are you lost, fiery?" I shake my head 'no', and realize he's blind. I rub my body gently against the boy, and slink off behind the bushes.

I step out minutes later, dressed in my clothes from earlier.

The mother takes a step back, her body tensing.

"I'm not going to hurt you. What are your names?" I ask, stepping towards them with Selena and Elizabeth flanking me.

"I'm Hailey, and this is my cousin, Jordan."

"You two are on our land. I'm Katy, and this is Selena and Elizabeth. Which pack are you two from?"

"Blood Moon Pack. Blake left us behind."

"They're at our mansion. Please, come." I shift into my wolf again, shutting off my flames, so Jordan can climb aboard, while Hailey is helped onto Elizabeth.

We run back to the manor, and we lead the newcomers inside. Derek, Tristan, and Liam are hanging out in the lounge room, reading and staring at the wall. Tristan looks up at my wolf, and motions my 6ft stature over to him.

Jordan slides off my back onto the carpet, and wobbles a bit, before regaining his footing. Hailey, on the other hand, stumbles a bit, before Selena catches her.
