"When you said let's do something different I didn't realize that you meant this."

Quinn looked around her, the sun dying in the sky cast a low smear of orange across the sky, covered by the tops of the trees that lurked sinisterly around her.

Something about trees and the outdoors always creeped her out since that experience with her father on the island.

Alex lent over the fire adjusting the travel frying pan, her face illuminated orange and yellow in the light of the fire.

Quinn softens slightly.

It had been two weeks since the attempt on Lena's life and two weeks since she and Alex had gotten back together.

"Stop groaning and get your cute little butt over here!" Alex said.

"Who thinks camping is a good date?" Quinn complained.

" I do, when I was a kid my Dad used to take me camping. " Alex smiled remembering the experiences.

Quinn sighed. "Yeah, mine too."

" Really. "

"Yes, we used to go visit my Grandmother in Australia and he would take us camping," Quinn remembered those times, Adeline had never come with them, she always thought Oz a primitive place, not the kind of haven for a Kane, especially Adeline Kane.

" My Father said we had to learn survival, we never knew when society would collapse and we would have to fend for ourselves. "

Alex grimaced. "He sounds cheerful."

The blue-eyed woman laughed. "You have no idea." You really don't.

"Tell me about him." Alex smiled sadly at her.

Quinn sighed and looked upward.

"He was the perfect man my Mom kinda fell in love with him quickly I think she was his trainer in the military." Quinn shifted slightly. " She was slightly older than him, been married and turned off by an abusive first husband. "

Alex shifted the frying pan again and moved closer to Quinn.

"Anyway they married had Joe, me and Grant we were totally normal living off my Mom's money."

" So you were rich? "

"Yes very much so, my Dad was a pilot or that is what he told everyone, a good cover as it turns out for his missions and trips away."

"One day Joe and I were rowing walking home from school and this black truck pulled up and grabbed him."

Quinn felt the sadness well up inside her as she remembered that afternoon. "His screams for help was the last time I heard him speak."

Alex looked to for questions in her eyes.

"While my Father was on his latest assignment he had assassinated a Colonel from Quarac, the president was pretty pissed and sent this real nasty guy called the Jackal after him, find out who hired him you know the deal."
