Quinn stepped over the vines that had grown over the entrance, the whole place green and yellows the windows almost lost among the thick growth of plants and beautiful exotic flowers.

The intense warmth met her as she stepped inside.

Ivy was poised over a pot, her long slender fingers gently caressing the leaves that grew from it steams, soft gentle whispers meant to sooth the fragile creature came from her mouth.

"They are the only things you can trust in this world." She said out loud.

" I don't know I had a hamster that kept all my secrets. "

"What secrets did you hide?"

Quinn smirked. "The usual secrets of an eight-year-old, it wasn't Grant who broke the window to the kitchen it was me, It definitely was not Joe who ate all the Christmas candy that year and I had a weird crush on the butler's daughter."

Ivy laughed. "Ate those the usual confessions of an eight-year-old?"

"They were mine, everyone believes a girl with pigtails and blue eyes, it was my weapon." Quinn

"Who else has a butler?" Ivy scoffed moving from one plant to another placing a soft kiss on it.

"He was a nice man he used to tell us stories of the war."

" Ah, I see heroic Brit saving the world from evil. "

"No actually, he was in the RAF dropped bombs most days, he told us stories that have stuck with me, I remember his tale about the bombing of Dresden, He told us of the tar on the streets heating up and turning into rivers of molten black sludge, the people never stood a chance he looked down and there they were a mother desperately trying to save her young daughter, it wasn't enough they were both killed." She sighed the old man had taught her war was never good, no matter who declared it was for the right of humanity. "He cried as he told the story, I'll never forget the tears that fell from his eyes, his fingers clenched to his lips as though he were afraid to speak the truth, he looked my brothers and I in the eye equally and told us no soldier is a hero, each has hurt and maimed the innocent and just because the innocent is on the other side does not mean their lives were cheap."

" Sounds like a wise man. "

"He was, no one knew what happened to him I did try looking for him but I hit a brick wall."

" And did you ever meet his daughter again? "

"That Ivy is a story for another day." Quinn smiled turning away to look around again.

" Translated to Quinn did fuck the butler's daughter. " She grinned her red lips stretching out thinly.

"Don't tell Sara she'd freak." Quinn put her finger to her mouth hoping Sara hadn't developed super-hearing and could hear her.

" The little blonde one right? "

"Yep, that is her."

" She is unique. "

"She is my plague, but I love her."

" Sounds like me and Harley. " She sighed.

"No, Sara she is very different she is a pain in the ass most of the time but she is strong and fearless, and mostly has a big heart she is nothing like Harley."

"I don't know what he does to her, she loses control and bends to his will." She sighed sadly, the shoulder in her green dress sagged downwards in despair.

Quinn cringed. "Yeah well, there are rumors."

"They are all true." She whispered in reply, her voice small now resigned to what had happened just moments ago.
