I glanced past Alec’s shoulder to see the whole guard standing in front of us, their faces emotionless. Jane and Corin moved next to us as we turned around to face the Volturi; Caius had a smile across his face as he stared me down, I glowered back griping Alec’s arm harder.
Most of their emotions were uneasy, but for some; they were enthusiastic. Aro stepped forward with Caius trailing behind. He scanned our little group of four and smiled, I truly didn’t want to hear his thoughts; I didn’t want to know what he was going to do.
“Well Alec,” Aro sighed “I can’t say I’m not surprised you’re here but may I ask… how?”
“Your guard on the jet isn’t the strongest” He gritted through his teeth.
“And neither is our guard in the castle” Aro frowned at Corin; she ducked her head away from his displeased stare.
Aro shook his head “I believe you remember our purpose here Alec?”
“Corin and I also” Jane spoke out “And we won’t allow it”
Aro let out a light laugh and clapped his hands together “Would you really attack your own family? We raised you as vampires and kept you safe, we gave you power and you’re throwing it away for a defective vampire?”
The twins growled in response “She’s NOT defective! I bet she’s stronger then you Aro”
“Peace, Alec. I will give you the rights as any other enemy we’ve fought you may try to prove yourself”
“And Evelyn?”
I looked at him, me? I thought this was about Jane and I.
Aro pondered for a minute “If you would like” He held out his hand from across the field motioning us forward; all three of them looked at me.
“He doesn’t seem to be lying; he’s trying to be sneaky though, hiding his thoughts” I thought to all of them.
Jane, Alec and Corin all nodded and glided towards the guard keeping me behind them.
“Jane?”
“Yes” She thought back wearily
“Is this just about me or both of us leaving?”
“They… they want to keep me because I’ve been in the guard for a long time; but I am still up for punishment”
“What do you mean punishment?”
“Evie, they want to get rid of you”
“Just because I left!”
“And for our punishment, don’t panic we’re going to convince him otherwise”
“Jan-” I stopped as we stood in front of Aro, He took Alec’s hand keeping his face blank.
Caius came on the other side of them nearing his way closer to me, I stepped closer to Corin hiding half of my body behind hers; but it wasn’t enough. Caius launched his hand forward and grabbed my arm harshly pulling me away from my friends.
“Stop!” Corin yelled thrusting forward, Jane burned her down and she let out a pained scream.
“Very wise not to attack” Aro chuckled passing Alec over to his guard where he struggled more.
I looked around with pleaded eyes “Don’t hurt them! Please!”
I skimmed the guard to see Felix and Demetri standing with horrified expressions; they looked up at me “Please!” I cried to them “Please don’t please!”
