I pressed my face against the huge double door, trying to listen for anymore screams.
“Maybe it was like a haunted house thing?” I whispered to Evelyn.
“No way, you heard them crying for help” she said back sternly.
Evelyn reached out for the golden door ring, and pulled back.
“I-it won’t move” she struggled.
I grabbed on also pulling as hard as I could, it didn’t move at all!
“What the heck?” I mumbled. “Maybe it’s a sign…. to you know hide!”
“I still hear heartbeats” I heard a man say on the other side of the door.
Evelyn and I both jumped.
“Where Master?” a girl lightly spoke.
I heard footsteps getting closer to the door, I grabbed Evelyn’s arm and dragged her behind a nearby pillar. The doors flung open and a man with blonde hair that rested among his shoulders stepped out swiftly. His eyes were bright crimson and he was dressed in a fancy black cloak. He was followed by a young looking girl although she seemed older then us, with her light brown hair in a bun. Her eyes also sparkling crimson.
“Its in here” The man said quietly moving down the hall, then turning back in his tracks and coming towards us.
I held my breath, and stood completely still not knowing what else to do.
“I see one!” the girl said speeding towards me.
She grabbed me harshly and ripped me out away from the pillar, I started to scream in terror as Evelyn was drawn out by the blonde haired man.
“Athena!” She screamed, but the man covered her mouth quickly so she could say no more.
“How did you get out?!” The man asked me bitterly.
“I-I never went in”
“Why?”
“We-we… needed to get home”
“Ahh, well that won’t happen” he said lightly walking into the room.
The girl dragged me along behind him.
“Aro we have some smart ones here” he said throwing Evelyn to the ground.
“Jane hold on to that one” the blonde one said. “She seems ingenious…”
I struggled in Jane’s tight grip as Aro approached my sister. He took her hand gently and smiled at her as if he was family.
“Well, I don’t see anything special” Aro said emotionless. “Felix if you would?”
Felix came up to Evelyn faster then I could blink, he hurriedly took her out of the room. The last thing I heard with her terrified screams then silence. I looked at Aro with tear-filled eyes as he took my hand.
“Fascinating! She seems to be able to telepathically connect to ones mind. Tell me dear, have you ever heard your sisters thoughts? Or felt her emotions?”
I nodded awkwardly, wondering how he knew.
“Caius, Marcus? Do you think we should add a new member?”
A growl erupted from Jane, and her grip on me tightened in anger.
“Jane dear…” Aro lightly said pushing her away.
“I’m sure she could be of use” Caius responded.
“Well then let it be!” Aro said cheerfully “What is your name dear one?”
“A-Athena”
“How old is she?” Marcus asked dully.
“I just turned 14 last week…”
“Will she be able to control herself?” Jane hurriedly asked.
“Why don’t you and Alec watch over her in her newborn stage Jane? I’m sure your powers will control her quite well”
“Of course master…” She said dismayed.
Newborn stage? What the heck is that? What happened to Evelyn? Who are these people?! All these questions flowed through my head. My face filled with confusion, my body was trembling. Aro came up to me again and touched my hand, I quickly pulled away from him.
“Your questions will be answered soon, for now Jane and Alec will watch over you before and after the transformation” He smiled up at Jane. “Take her now”
Aro guided me towards Jane, I looked around for this Alec person but he was nowhere to be seen. Jane scowled at me and hurried down the hall. I followed her like a little lost puppy, with my tension a little relaxed knowing that I was going to stay alive…. for now.
