“Did you burn her Jane?” Alec asked harshly.

“No! I wasn’t even the room”

“Well you are always acting so mean around her!”

“So? I just don’t find her amusing…” Jane said slightly softer.

I began to hear Jane and Alec have a harsh conversation as I gained consciousness. I moaned, lifting my hand to my head.

“She’s gaining consciousness” Alec ran over to the bed I was laying in.

“Alec?” I grumbled.

“Jane get Aro!”

Jane scowled, at us and scuffled out the door.

“Where am I?”

“Jane and I’s room, now are you okay?”

I looked at the waves of emotion flow around him, they glistened dark blue. His thoughts I could hear clearly as if he was speaking right to me, “oh my god! Vampires don’t pass out, please please be okay.” His thoughts echoed through my mind. Amused I sat up.

“I’m fine, and thank you…”

“For what?” he asked stunned.

Caring

A smiled beamed across his face, “ahh, a little telepathic one here” it felt magical the way he spoke with me, almost like ringing bells. I looked him wanting to know exactly what happened last night. I glued my eyes to Alec and started to open my mouth to ask what but he cut me off in terror.

“Your eyes!” his face panicked.

“What? what’s wrong with them?”

“They’re rainbow” he responded telepathically.

I jumped out of bed and ran to a golden framed mirror. I stared at my reflection as my eyes gleamed bright colors of red, blue, green, purple, yellow, and orange.

“They’re beautiful” I said gently stroking my flawless cheek.

“Its not normal, do they hurt?” Alec asked worried.

“Not at all, I think when I collapsed…. the waves of color were everywhere, it must have changed my eyes.” I mused.

“You really aren’t scared at all?” Alec came and rubbed my shoulder.

“No, not really”

“You’re a brave newborn”

“You’re a sweet ancient vampire” I responded sarcastically.

I turned to face him, we just stared into each other’s eyes, saying nothing. But I know we both had the same ideas in our head, I never want to leave him. He leaned into me and kissed my lips gently, I embraced him in a loving hug.

‘Enough said, we’re going out?” I chuckled.

“If its okay with you?”

I kissed him on the cheek and smiled “of course”

He carried me bridal style to his bed and laid down next to me, “You scared me so badly when you fell, please don’t ever do that again”

“I won’t, I promise” I reassured him. “Speaking of the incident, was that you that was next to me holding my hand?”

“and making you numb? Yes” he added.

“You took my pain away, you’re my hero for that”

“Heh, I’m not a hero”

I shoved him off the bed, “Don’t doubt yourself!”

“Gez, sorry” He put his hands up.

We laughed together and smiled. Not realizing that Jane and Aro were in the doorway.

“A Volturi romance! A cure for any problem” Aro clapped his hands together.

Oh god how long have they been standing there?!

Aro walked over to me and took my hand, after a few seconds of reading my thoughts he stared into my eyes. “Fascinating, Can you see okay?”

“I can see better then okay.”

He got up and grinned, “We’ll keep an eye on you, this is truly very mesmerizing. A vampire who faints and awakes with strong powers and rainbow eyes, I’m not even sure if that makes you a vampire.”

“Meaning…?” I asked.

“We’ll do some tests and see if you react to them like a vampire should”

“Oh.. um, okay” I looked over to Alec in a pained expression.

“Don’t worry dear, on the bright side I see a black cloak in your future.”

He stood up, and let Jane open the door for him and exited the room. Jane on the other hand stayed and walked back to her side of the room, scanning her bookshelf. She really wanted to know what we were up too.

“So, a black cloak?” I asked confused.

“We have rankings in our coven, the darker the cloak the higher ranked you are.”

“And I’m the top?”

“Besides the Masters, Ya”

“That’s amazing! But… I hate the color black…”

Alec laughed.

“I’m serious.”

“Oh…” he couldn’t help but grin, but that was okay I liked to see him happy.

I looked back over at Jane who was still at her bookshelf, then back at Alec. He nodded.

“Hey Evelyn lets go to the library alone, so we can find you a good book to read.” He said clearly.

“Wow, thank you Alec! let’s go.”

We both got up and looked back at Jane again, she knew we wanted to get away from her, I just knew it. I felt a tad bit sympathetic but shook it off by thinking of all the mean things she’s done to me. Alec and I both scurried off in the hall pleased.

“Alec, is Jane always like this?” I asked truly.

“No, she is normally commanding but not like that”

I sighed, I couldn’t help but ponder with the thought that it was me, well I knew it was me that was causing her to act like that, but why?

“Alec, I’ll be right back.”

“Where are you going?”

“Nowhere important, I’ll meet you at the library”

“You know where it is?”

“I’ll find my way!” I said.

I sped back down the hallway and stood in front of Jane’s door and opened it slowly.

“Jane?” I called.

No answer. I fully opened the door and skimmed the room, she was gone.
