"Hey," Luke said walking over.

"Gosh I hope he didn't see that I was totally and completely drooling over him," Michelle thought.

"Hey Luke," she said aloud, "Sorry I was a bit late." "No problem," he brushed off, "We're almost done with practice anyways." She nodded not knowing what else to say. "Have you had breakfast yet?" Luke asked thoughtfully. Thinking about it, she remembered she didn't have time to eat yet. "No I didn't," she replied. "Oh cool. There's this really nice breakfast place we can go to later after practice," Luke offered. "Oh no it's okay I don't --"

"LAVALE!! Get back here!" Coach yelled interrupting Michelle. Luke turned to her and said, "I'll talk to you later. Coach needs me." Michelle nodded and watched him as he ran back to practice throwing the ball around like the rest of the guys. After about ten minutes a very sweaty Luke came back and grabbed his gym bag. "Ready to go?" He asked. "Yep," she said getting up.

"So you wanna ride with me or..." Luke asked. "What and ride with a sweaty smelly dude? No thanks," she teased. "Haha okay then follow me in your car," he said winking her way.

"Dang..." Michelle thought as she walked to her car, "Luke's charms will be the death of me."

Driving around town, she eventually pulled into a parking spot. The restaurant's sign read "The Pancake House"

"After you," Luke said opening the door for her. "Thanks," she blushed and walked in first. The greeter asked how many guests and Luke replied, "Two."

"So tell me why you haven't eaten breakfast yet today?" Luke asked sitting down in a booth with Michelle. "Well I slept in so yeah," she shrugged. He nodded and peeked at the menu. "So what about you Mr. Football Player why haven't you eaten breakfast yet? Isn't the coach strict on that?" She asked with a smug smile. Luke smiled- which was quite charming- shook his head, "I had a protein shake this morning. And I was planning that maybe we could have breakfast together."

Something about the way he said it sent butterflies all throughout her stomach. "Oh pull your crap together Michelle. He doesn't like you," she mentally slapped herself.

"So what will you be having?" Luke asked and Michelle suddenly noticed the waitress waiting for her order. "I'll take the big breakfast," she said. "Ok," the lady said writing it down on her notepad, "Two big breakfasts coming up."

"So Michelle tell me about yourself," Luke said taking a sip of his orange juice. "Well," Michelle said taking a sip of hers, "What do you wanna know?" "Anything you wanna tell me," he lounged back in his booth. "Ok. Well I moved here from California, my dad had a job transfer," she said. "That's it?" He said unamused. "Well i don't know what to tell you!" She laughed. "Well man! I was kinda hoping you had something funny or interesting to say," he said. "Oh? Interesting... Is that a good thing?" She asked. "Frankly yes," he said leaning in on the table, "You seem like you're not the stereo type." "Okay," she cocked her head to one side, "I guess I could tell you I hate... Alligators?" "Yes!" Luke practically yelled.

She was a bit shocked. "Was he surprised or agreeing with me?" She thought.

Must've seen the look on her face because he said, "I agree. Reptiles are the scariest." She smiled, "Oh whew! Some people think it's a weird thing." Luke said, "Actually you know is weird?" "What?" She asked. "Tofu," he made a face. She laughed.

He looked like such a kid when he was alone. Usually she expected him to be the Casanova everyone always talked about, but right now, the type of Luke seemed far away. The one in front of her seemed like someone completely different.

Soon the waitress came back with their order and they continued an hour with their small talk conversation.

"Wow it's already one o'clock," Michelle said looking at her phone. Luke looked at the clock on the wall. "Oh yeah we'd better get going," he said asking for the check. "Hey let me pay for it," Michelle said. "No," he brushed her hand away, "I'm the guy let me pay." "Sexist," she sneered. "You mean the sexiest," he corrected. She rolled her eyes, "Should've known. You're taking me back to your den to seduce me and make me your slave aren't you?" Luke laughed and turned red, "Yeah sorry Sweetheart. But I don't do sweet innocent girls." She kept a blank face but slowly a smile crept on her lips. "C'mon slave, follow me to my den," Luke teased and handed the waitress a twenty dollar bill.
