Mom!" Luke said after Michelle left. "I'm just saying! That IF you were to go back into the dating business, that Michelle would be a nice girl. She's better than that Carrie girl," his mom said. "Ugh she's just... Not even a friend! More like an associate," Luke explained, "Second of all my last girlfriend's name is Cassidy."
"Lukas," she said his full name. "Mother," he mimicked wiping the dishes she just washed. "Girls like that don't come around everyday. Go ask her out for my sake," she said. Luke rolled his eyes, "Fine Mom. One date! Only!"
He laid in bed later that night, throwing a football in the air while thinking about Michelle. Dinner tonight wasn't like the usual. Whenever he brought a girl home, his mom would have this fake smile plastered on her face. Tonight his mom seemed happy. Luke remembered how his ex- girlfriends used to just sit and flirt with him while his mom was busy in the kitchen by herself. Michelle actually helped his mom cook and set up for dinner. Throughout the whole night there was no awkward silences. She and his mom would talk about everything that they came across. Luke could tell his Mom was charmed by Michelle, only question now is- was he?

Michelle sighed as she walked into her own house. This unending flow of butterflies was filling her stomach. This afternoon with Luke was absolutely incredible! He wasn't at all like what everyone had made him out to be. Luke was a nerdy sweetheart.
"So Michelle," her mom said, "When are you gonna stop drooling?"
Her head snapped back, "Wait? When? What? I was not!" Michelle could feel her cheeks redden. "Oh c'mon," Mrs. Hartford said, "Anyone could see you blush from a mile away." "Okay Mom! Bye!" Michelle blushed red and ran upstairs.
"What was that?" Mr. Hartford asked coming out room the den. "Oh nothing... Just that I think our daughter may have a crush on a certain boy," she replied. Mr. Hartford raised an eyebrow, "Boy! What boy?"

The next Monday, Michelle was walking toward her English when Melanie walked up to her.
"Look if you're hear to fight and tell me about how bad a douche that Luke is, I'd prefer not to talk right now," Michelle snapped. Melanie bit her lip, "Well that not why I am here." "What?!" Michelle asked surprised. "I'm here to say sorry about making your Friday crappy. It was my fault and I get it. I shouldn't let my sucky life to damp on yours," Melanie said.
Michelle bit her lip and said, "Well y'know Melanie. I didn't give you the chance to express yourself on how you feel about you know who. So how about we just hang out today after school?" Melanie smiled, "Sure! Just the two of us?" "Yeah... But we're not talking about Luke," Michelle said. "Yeah of course," Melanie nodded.
Right after English she had lunch and walked around the cafeteria trying to find the girls.
"Hey Michelle," a guy from the football team said to her. "Hey," she plainly said not knowing his name. "So I have a question to ask you," he said trying not to smile. A couple of guys from his table started laughing. Michelle ignored them, "Yeah sure. What is it?"
"I was trying to shoot some baskets day, but it wouldn't make in. Would you like to teach me how to make out?"
There. That was the question- the sad pick up line. Michelle gawked, "Well I would. But I think you need to grow some balls and learn yourself."
All the guys eyes opened, even the guy who said the "joke."
"Okay guys, enough," manly voice said from behind her. She turned around to face Luke, "Oh hey. I didn't see you there." "Course you didn't," he remarked with a smile, "Unless you had eyes behind your head." She barely giggled.
