"He's my ex-boyfriend," Abigail says.
Michelle nods and says, "Oh... Um cool?" Abigail shrugs, "I guess. Luke's cute and a sweetheart but not everything last forever."
"Wow an ex and thought he was a sweetheart? That's pretty good," Michelle thought.
"Yeah? How so?" Michelle smirked. Abby placed her knife in the sink and the chopped veggies in a salad bowl, "He was great and all. But he had football and scholarships and I focused on my studies so it just didn't work out too well." Michelle nodded, "But besides that, was it a good relationship?"
Abigail raised her eyebrow at Michelle. "Sorry not to be nosy or anything," she said. Abigail smiled and turned away now cutting up some chicken breast. She stopped and smiled reminiscing the times. "Yeah," Abigail turned to Michelle, "It was a nice relationship."
Michelle perked the corners of her lips up into a smile. Then Mrs. Connolly walked in and apologized, "Sorry that was my friend. You two getting to know each other?"
"Yes Mom," Abigail sighed, "We're not kids anymore." "Oh I'm just asking!" She shushed her daughter. "Anyways you done making the salad?" She asked. "Yeah Mom," Abby said and walked away into the dinning room where six guys sat.
"Dinner is served," Abby said to the men. The guys were about to dig in when Mrs. Connolly coughed and reminded JJ to pray before eating. Michelle was surprised, she didn't know anyone else's family did this too.
She's grown up in a Christian house, so she was used to praying before eating, it was just unusual to see another family do it too.
JJ reluctantly said Grace and the guys began eating.
"So Michelle? How long have you been coming to Kennedy?" JJ asked. "Yeah I don't think I've seen you before," Michael said. "Oh," Michelle swallowed before answering, "I just moved here about a month ago and began coming to Kennedy for about three weeks."
"Wow really?" Abby asked surprised, "And you're already talking to the hotties of the school? No way!"
Everyone laughed and Michelle shrugged, "I don't know! I guess I just got lucky." "Or you're not like other girls that why we talk to you," Luke added.
Everyone fell quiet. Was that possibly a compliment to Michelle?
"Wow you're special," Abby said. "She sure is," JJ said. "I think she's a keeper," David said. "Yeah!" Sam agreed.
Luke and Michelle choked on their drinks, "No No! We're not dating!" Michelle scoffed, "Well I knew we weren't dating but I didn't know I was THAT bad."
Everyone knew she was kidding but then Luke said, "Well I mean we can if you want." Michelle's eyes widened and Abby's jaw clenched.
"What?" Michelle asked. "I said we could go out if you wanted to," Luke said again. Some of the guys chuckled to themselves. "Of course I'm just kidding," Luke added. "Yeah... Of course," Michelle laughed along. But on the inside Michelle was a bit stung by his joke. She didn't like him or anything she just didn't think she was that bad.
After dinner, they all played a couple of board games and it was just the type of party that Michelle liked. Around 12 everyone started cleaning up and going back home, Luke left with Michelle. Since the place was close to get house the drive was only 10 minutes.
They pulled up and Luke stayed in the driveway with the doors still locked. Michelle sat there not knowing what to say.
"So about what I said earlier don't take that seriously I didn't mean to say something to offend you or anything," Luke said. Was he apologizing?
