Chapter 1"Prepare to shoot," I say as I cock my gun and focused on the target. "Don't pressure me Killian," I over hear Robin say. I take a deep breath and put my finger on the trigger. "On the count of three, one, two, three," I say and I pulled the trigger.
It jammed. Robin and I look up from the shooting game we were playing and scoffed. "Seriously, Killian we could have gone anywhere but we came here to shoot to a dart to win stuffed animals." I laugh. "Where's your sense of fun Robin." He scoffs.
I try to shoot again but with no luck. Robin and I start to mess with the guns and the owner of the game shop runs over to us. "Don't mess with those guns, you'll brake them," he says as he takes the gun away from Robin. Robin and I chuckle. "They're already broken," I say and the owner rolls his eyes.
"These guns have been used by Misthaven military men." I look at Robin and tried my best contain a straight face. He covers his mouth but I could tell he was trying to conceal his laugh. "If you say so," I say and that's when we hear a scream coming from outside.
"Stop that thief!" We hear a voice scream. That's when we see a young man getting on a motorcycle. "His escape route is towards us." I sigh as I hear Robin say this as he takes the toy gun from the owner. I sigh. "Robin we are on break." I get the toy gun and follow him outside.
We stand our ground and Robin takes a deep breath. "Because its a toy gun, the shooting range is a bit short, about 16 ft." I nod. "Well currently about 10 ft," I say as I try to cock the toy gun. "8ft," Robin says and I nod. The young man starts to scream for us to move but we stand our ground.
"6ft," I say and we focus our toy guns on the young man. "Now!" I scream and we both shoot little rubber pellets at the young man from our toy guns. The young man falls off the motorcycle. That's when the owner of the motorcycle walks over to us and checks on the motorcycle.
"Thank you," he says to Robin and I. We both nod. "Will you call the police?" Robin asks the man and he chuckles. "It's more of a headache to call the police over this and his injury has nothing to do with me, so don't tell me to come over here." Robin scoffs and I make my way to treat the young man.
He calls the police as I perform first aid on the young man. "It's okay, it doesn't hurt," he says and I flick his forehead. "Lie down." He groans. "Be careful or you'll hurt your spine and suffer for the rest of your life." He groans as I finished treating the young man.
20 Minutes later
Robin and I are drinking some refreshers at a small café with two girly stuffed animals. I take a sip out of my drink and smile at Robin as he grabs his white bunny. "Your girlfriend is super pretty," I say and smile. Robin smiles. "It feels like I met my ideal type." I nod. "Your doll fits you very well, too." I scoff. "Hey this ones a fellow soldier." Robin smiles and I shake my head and hit his arm.
"Why would you accept these?" "The owner gave us these while asking us to never come again. How could I decline?" I shake my head and leaned against the chair. "With such a weak heart, how are you so hard when it comes to war?" Robin smiles. "Just when you think you know someone." Robin laughs and nods at my comment.
"You know I'm thinking about that kid we took down." I nod. "What about it Robin?" He sighs. "He will be fine, he looked like an athlete." He shakes his head. "That's not what I meant." I gave him a weird look. "I was that age too, once." He sighs. "Athletes need to meet the right mentors." I nod. "Why does it bother you, it reminds you of your dark past?"
He sighs. "It makes me pity him." I nod. "When you were that age, did you do a lot of bad things?" Robin smiles. "No I ordered people to do it." I laugh. "Look at you, you want to redeem yourself for all the bad stuff you've done?" He smiles. "Maybe." I shake my head.
"Merciless person," I say as my phone starts to ring. Robin sighs. "Is it the unit?" I nod. "But not ours." Robin gives me a confused look. "Whose is it?" I show him the phone and he gasps. "It's Regina's, don't Answer it." I laugh. "Of course I am going to answer her and I will ask to meet us here so you can take care of business like a man, okay?"
He gasps. "I swear to God Killian if you do..." I laugh. "I'm a Answer....." "I'll buy you food, steak." I smile. "I make enough to buy steak." "Whiskey, that's 17 years old." I laugh. "Naaa." Robin grabs the phone. "Blind date with my cousin, who works on planes." I scoff. "Hmm is she in the Air Force?" He shakes his head.
"Flight attendant, there's photos of her on the website for Misthaven Air." I push his hand aside and scoff. "You bastard, you've been hiding this desirable relative from me all this time, I thought we were bro's." Robin sighs.
"I'm still going to call Regina but for now give me your cousins number." Robin sighs. He starts to look for his phone and doesn't find it. "Trying to hide it from me homeboy?" He shakes his head. "I lost it." I chuckle then he gasps. "That boy took it." I chuckle.
"He stole your phone yet you pitied him?" He chuckles. "He's going to die, what hospital did the paramedics take him to?" I laugh. "Misthaven University Hospital." He scoffs. "That boy is dead." I laugh. "Let's go get your phone back."
