Chapter 8

I could not contain my excitement, I am thrilled to spend time with Emma. I know it was a tad late but better late than never. Once I finished taking a shower, I got ready, and made my way to the hospital.

I waited for her by the entrance and as I was there walking back and forth I logged on to my phone and checked which movies were playing. I was smiling like crazy, and I honestly felt like an idiot. I stood there waiting for the movies to load when I hear a loud sound. I turn around and I see the big screen. My smile fades when I read the headlines.

"2 peace journalists from Misthaven have been abducted by foreign forces and are sentenced to death."

My heart dropped. My squad is in charge of situations like this, God why is this happening now. That's when my phone goes off, it was the General. He called to ask for my location because that was indeed my next mission.

I made my way to the roof because they had sent a chopper out to pick me up. My heart dropped, I had a date with Emma and now I have to cancel it. I texted her to let her know where I was at.

Minutes passed and I see her walking towards me. My heart continued to break, maybe I'm not meant to be with Emma.

Emma's POV
I thought it was pretty odd that Killian asked me to meet him on the roof. I didn't mind though, I was excited to see him so it didn't matter. As I made my way towards him I could tell he looked a little upset.

"Is everything ok?" He turned around and sighed. "I'm afraid I'm the one blowing you off this time." I gave him a concerned look. "Why what happened?" He gave me a half smile and sighed. That's when I hear a chopper flying over us.

"Oh no Killian, it must be an emergency, you should go to the first floor instead of here.." He smiles. "No it's here for me." I gasp. "Did a war break out?" Killian slightly chuckles. "Somewhere, But not here so don't worry."

I can't contain the worry and fear I am feeling right now. "Then why is it that a helicopter is coming to get you?" "I'll explain it later, but in the mean time can you make me a promise." I look at the helicopter that arrived and my heart is breaking.

"Let's meet next weekend, not at the hospital, but somewhere else." I half smile. "Aren't you going to come to get treated?" Killian smiles. "I'll come back healthy, so you don't have to worry." I half smile.

"So how about we watch a movie?" I stood there silently then stared at the helicopter. Killian then grabs my hand. "I don't have much time Emma, would you like to go out with me next weekend and watch a movie?" I look at him and nodded.

"Yes I would like to." He smiles. "Then it's a date." I smile. He then made his way towards the helicopter but stopped and looked back at me. "Oh by the way you look beautiful Emma." I couldn't help but blush. He turned back around and ran towards the helicopter.

Before going in he stopped and looked back at me. He gave me a half smile then got in. The door closed and the helicopter flew away. I stood there as they disappeared into the distance. I couldn't help but feel extremely sad.

Millions of scenarios were rushing through my mind, what type of mission will he be doing? He can die out there. I made my way back down and went to the on call room. I stared at my phone and sighed. I mean he's putting his life on the line for the peace and freedom of our Misthaven, that's a great honor.

I guess it hadn't hit me that he was indeed a soldier until now. That's when Elsa walks in and she gives me a confused look. "What happened?" I sigh. "No, he left you hanging?" I shake my head. "Well if hanging means leaving me to save our country, then yes he left me hanging."

She gasps. "Oh right, he's a soldier, man I'm sorry Emma." I smile. "It's ok." She smiles. "Well we have a date next week." She smiles. "Hey then all hope is not lost." I nod. She grabs my hand and smiles. "Don't worry Emma, he will be fine, how about we go get some drinks into town." I shake my head.

"Tempting but I would like to go home." She nods. "Drive safe." I nod and made my way to my car. I stood by my car and smiled. Killian is as devoted as I am to his job, and not gonna lie that made him even more attractive.

I guess time will tell if we are meant to be.
