Chapter 19
Everyone stood there staring down at the president. We all knew that once we started there was no going back. I sighed and nodded. "We are an awesome team and together we will save the president's life."
Everyone nodded. "Ok we will start, Ruby scalpel please." She nods and hands me the scalpel. I stare down and I'm nervous. I trust my gut that I can do this but in reality I don't know what he has been treated for until I open him up.
I look up at Elsa and she gives me a nod. I nod and start the incision.
Time passed and we were able to do the surgery successfully, well we can say it was successful because he didn't die on the operating table. Now all we need is for him to wake up, but according to what his doctor said he could still die. Yeah he came when we finished the surgery, and yelled at us for opening him up but waiting would have made things worse.
I'm happy with the outcome and we were able to save the president's life, all I hope for is that he wakes up if not all this was in vain. But there's one thing I'm not happy with and that is Killian's situation. I hope he doesn't get into serious trouble, because if he loses his job because of me I will never forgive myself.
Killian's POV
We all stood there with our guns holstered, the job was done and there was no need for violence. That's when I heard the radios go off. Robin turned pale and the rest of the squad gasped. I knew what was happening. I am being disciplined for not obeying orders.Robin opened his mouth but no words can come out. I gave him an understanding nod, he has to say the order no matter how hard it may be.
"Captain Killian Jones, for disobeying your order, you're dismissed as being commander and will be taken to a temporary detention."
I nod. I take out my gun and unload the chamber, then gave it to Robin. I take off my bulletproof vest and William grabs it. I smile and nod.
I turn around and looked at all of the president's men and his doctor.
"I don't regret doing this, I know I made the right decision." I walk up to Robin and nodded. "Please take care of the follow up, make sure the team is ok." Robin nods, then gives me a salute. I smile and nod.
He then walked me over to a storage closet that we had. "I'm sorry Killian but for now you are to be detained in this storage closet." I chuckle. "You should have left me in the food pantry, that way I won't starve." Robin shakes his head and chuckles.
"I really am sorry Killian, you know I have to follow orders." I nod. "Don't worry, I know." That's when the door flies open and our higher ranking commander walks in. Robin and I salute and stood our ground.
"Robin please step outside." Robin nods and walks out. I stood still and that's when the commander hits me then kicks me. I stood still and nodded. He walks around me and continues to scoff.
"You shouldn't have intervened, do you know how many people lost their jobs because of what you did?" I look straight and nodded. "I am sorry." He scoffs. "Why did you do it if you now regret doing it?" I huffed.
"I don't regret my decision sir." He scoffs. "You're one of the best Jones, you were going to receive every star imaginable, every honor that there is in the book because of your past accomplishments and now they have all gone down the drain." Hearing him say all of this did hurt me but just like I had said before, I don't regret anything.
"I don't regret anything sir." He shakes his head. "I will take full responsibility for everything sir." He nods. "Let's see if you will stand by that decision." He walks away and I ease my stance. I don't regret anything, I trust Emma and I know that the president will wake up.
My mind continued to wander when the door flies open again, I stood by stance and I see that it's Robin. I look at him and he had a pale look. "Robin what's wrong?" He shakes his face. "Umm the commander just went off on Emma, he's mad for operating on him." I shook my head.
"This is not her fault, she shouldn't be punished for following her beliefs." He nods. "But I know that's not at all you wanted to tell me, what's going on?" He sighs. "I am being sent back to Misthaven to train new cadets." I scoff.
"Oh really, now that Regina is about to arrive, they send you away." He nods. "That's a bunch of bull crap." He looks down and nods. "And if I don't go they will discipline me too." I scoff again. "This is unbelievable, you know it's her dad because he's the director of our whole regiment." He nods. I go and sit on the ground.
"When are you leaving?" He sighs. "In 4 hours." I sigh. "Separated again." He nods. "You don't deserve to be punished Killian," Robin says as he sits down next to me. I smile, "it was worth it." He pats my back.
"I will always serve my country no matter what, but for this first time I felt it in my heart to do the right thing and Emma helped with that." Robin nods. "Emma is something else isn't she?" I smile and nod. "The only thing that pains is me knowing that Emma will be here without me." Robin nods.
"She's a tough lass." I nod, and that's when we hear a knock on the door. We both sigh, it was time for him to pack up so he can get back to Misthaven. "See you around my brother." I nod and we hug it out. "Oh I almost forgot Emma wants to talk to you." I smile.
"Yeah?" He nods. "I'll send for her." I smile, "thanks Robin and take care out there." He nods and salutes. I salute him back. "Take care captain." He then walks away and closes the door behind him. No matter what happens from here on out, I do not regret a single thing I did today.
