Chapter 15

I'm sitting down in the helicopter and I am both shocked and upset. Out of all the places I could have been sent to I'm sent to the place where Killian is at. Minutes passed and we land to where we will be living for a couple of months.

Killian gets out first and helps everyone out. As soon as I am about to get out he grabs my hand and helps me out of the helicopter. I turn around to grab my duffle bag but he grabs it and puts it on his back. He walks away and I follow right behind.

They escort us to our living arrangements, and it so happens that Elsa and I get a room all to ourselves. Killian walks in and places my bag on a bed. "Tomorrow we will give you the rundown of this place, dinner will be at 6pm." He then walks out and closes the door.

I look at Elsa and she is speechless. "Are you kidding me, after all this time this is where Killian has been?" I sit down and I'm still trying to process the fact that Killian is here. After not seeing him for so long I will be working with him. I mean I literally have no way of approaching him because I was the one that ended well whatever we had but then again he didn't fight for us, so I shouldn't be worried about him.

That's when Elsa snaps her fingers in front of my face making me jump. "Emma are you ok?" I nod as I start to open my duffel bag. She scoffs. "Man Killian is still freaking hot." I chuckle. "He's not that hot." She scoffs. "You know you're still head over heels for him." I scoff.

"I'm just here for my job and that's it." She chuckles. "Well if you won't go back with him then I don't mind buying a ticket on that ride." I shrug. "I don't care." Elsa laughs. "Seriously Emma, I just said it to get you jealous, there is no way I'm going after him when you're still not over him." I scoff again.

"Let's concentrate on putting our things away, ok?" She nods. That's when Tink walks in, and lays on Elsa's bed. "It is so nice and peaceful here girls." We all nod. "It is but its a bit humid," Elsa says and we all nod." That's when a soldier walks in. "Happy to see that you all made it here safely." Tink and I gasp. "William?" He smiles and nods. "Look at you," Tink says with a smile. I smiled super big.

"Is your ankle all healed?" I ask and he nods. "I'm all healed up thanks to all of you." Tink and I smile. "Happy to see that you joined the army." He smiles. "Well I will be seeing you all at dinner just wanted to say hi." He walks out and I smile.

"I'm happy to see he's doing good." I nod at Tink. "So as I was saying its not bad here but the fact that Emma's boyfriend is here makes our stay a bit more interesting." I scoff. "He's not my boyfriend." Elsa and Tink giggle.

"Whatever you say," Tink says as she continues to giggle. I scoff and throw my duffel bag on the ground. "You two are wrong, I am over him and that's final." I walk out the room and made my way outside of our little house.

I took a step outside and sighed. I am over him, we are not meant to be. We live different lives, we have different careers, we are not meant to be. I continued to walk and I just look at my surroundings. The land looked like a desert but if you looked far enough you could see a beautiful forest.

I walk towards the forest and I see that there's a fence around it with a sign saying no trespassing. I look around and I see some kids playing around. I smiled at the sight of them, I take a closer look at them and they looked very malnourished.

That's when one of the little girls finds a metal piece on the ground and starts to lick it. I scream. "No don't eat it!" They all stopped and looked at me. They started to talk in a language that I didn't understand. I jumped over the fence and took the metal piece away from the girl and gave her a granola bar I had in my pocket.

She starts to eat it and that's when all the kids started to pull on my arms, damn it they wanted more food but I didn't have any. That's when they all stop and I feel someone standing behind me. I look and see that it's Killian. "Hey leave the nice lady alone," he says and they all back away.

They all nod and smile. "You know the sign says no trespassing." I scoff. "I told you to wait till tomorrow for the rundown of this place Emma." I rolled my eyes. "Oh and if you don't have food for all the kids don't share." I nod. He then says something to them in another language and they all laugh and walk away.

"What did you tell them?" He smiles. "That I'm going to shoot them if they don't leave." I gasp. He laughs. "It's a joke Emma." I scoff and walk away. "Emma wait up!" He screams as he's chasing me. I scoff then stopped and looked straight at him. "Oh now you're talking to me?"

He sighs. "I'm sorry for that, I didn't mean to be mean, you know I am always a gentleman." I nod. "And it's been what over two years since we've talked, I couldn't just say hey Emma how you been." I stayed quiet. "And besides you were the one that ended what we had." I scoff. "You are infuriating." He chuckles. I walk away and that's when I step on something.

Killian gasps. "Emma don't move." I stood still. "What?" He sighs. "You wanna know the reason why we put a no trespassing sign on the fence?" I nod. "Because this whole place is rigged with land mines." I gasp as I look down.

"And don't tell me I just activated one?" He nods. I start to panic. "Killian what do I do?" He sighs. "This is my 15th year in the military and I have not seen a person live after stepping on a mine." I start to panic even more. "How can you say that Killian, aren't you supposed to say something that will make me feel better?" He sighs as he walks up to me.

"I don't know what to do." I continue to panic. "This happens all the time in movies, isn't the guy supposed to use a knife to deactivate it." Killian sighs. "I've only seen one guy do this before?" I smile. "Who?" He laughs. "The one from your movie." I scoff.

"So what am I supposed to do?" Killian sighs as he walks away. "Hey you jerk You can't leave me here." He stops and turns around. "Did you just insult a captain of the army?" I scoff. "You need to help me." He nods. "I'll take your place." I gasp. "What?" He nods. "I'll step on it then die." I gasp. "No there must be some other way." He pushes me and steps on the mine. I gasp. "Killian you can't die." He smiles. "It's ok." I shake my head.

"No there has to be another way, you can't die, I'm so sorry." That's when he pulls me down and I fall on top of him. I'm hugging him for dear life as I brace myself from the blast. Seconds pass by and I don't hear anything.

I get up. "Nothing happened?" Killian smiles. "You look cute when you're scared." I scoff and get up. "This was all a lie?" He chuckles. "Don't talk to me ever, like in your entire life." I leave him sitting there as I walk away.

This was a sick and cruel joke, I nearly died of how scared I was, but two can play this game. I don't care if he's the big boss, he's going down.

Killian's POV
I laugh as I see Emma walking away. If she only knew that the mine she stepped on was a real one but it goes off in 7 minutes. As soon as she disappeared from view the mine goes off. I cover myself as dirt goes flying everywhere. I cough as I try to cover up the hole the mine left in the ground.

I get up and dust off the dirt from my uniform and made my way to our house. As I was walking I couldn't help but be mad at myself. I was going to forget about Emma and here I was talking to her.

I walk into our house, and I see Robin staring at a letter. "Robin what's wrong?" He hands me the letter and just stares into space. I grab it and start to read it, once I finished I placed it on the table. "So what do you have to say to this?" He shakes his head.

"She will only be coming out of her duty for our country and that's it." I chuckle. "If Regina comes then you might have a chance at happiness again my brother." He shakes his head again. "I'm not like you I actually keep my promises." I scoff. "What do you mean?" He chuckles.

"I was walking around and I saw you talking to Emma, I thought you were going to forget about her." I scoff. "I will I just..." He chuckles and starts to walk away. "You are a weak man when it comes to Emma." I scoff again then sighed. He's right I am, I can't help it ever since I laid eyes on her at the hospital I can't get her out of my head.
