Chapter 30

1 year later

It's been 1 year since we were sent to basically hell and came back to a piece of heaven. The president had given me the position of chief of surgery, and no one could take that position away. So that meant that Chase couldn't send me away anymore or treat me badly.

My team has been working tremendously and the hospital is better than ever. Killian and Robin both decided to stay here in Misthaven and train other cadets, and occasionally oversee national threats or emergencies. Killian and I have been inseparable since then and we are currently dating. Regina and Robin got married 4 months ago which took everyone by surprise but we were all happy for them.

Nothing too drastic has happened, just the normal emergency stuff that happens in a hospital. I'm tending to a patient in the ER when I see Killian standing by the nurses station. Tink walks up to me and smiles. "Seems that your captain charming has come to see her beautiful doctor." I smile and nod.

I finish with my patient and walked up to him. I gave him a big kiss and hugged him. "What brings you here?" He smiles nervously. "I'm here to invite you to dinner tonight, be ready at 6pm." I smile and nod. "Formal or casual?" He smiles, "formal." I lift my eyebrow.

"Alright.." But then I noticed he was super nervous. I touch his chest and smiled. "You ok?" He nods. "Yes." I could tell he was lying but I didn't want to pressure him. "Ok see you tonight love." We kiss again and off he went. It bugged me how he was acting but I trust him, he will tell me when he feels comfortable to talk about it.

Killian's POV
I am so nervous for what I'm about to do, even though we've only been dating for a while, I'm going to ask Emma to marry me. I love her and I want to spend the rest of my life with her. I make my way to my car when I get a call to present myself to our base.

As soon as I get there I see Robin standing in front of another general. I'm nervous because we only get called in when someone of importance is coming to our country or we have a national threat.

We stood there as our general started to tell us that many important ambassadors are coming to visit our country tonight to talk and that we need to be their security. My heart dropped, today I had planned to ask Emma out now I can't.

"You don't have time to go home or anywhere, from here you need to get to the airport and escort them because there will be a secret meeting with them and us." We nod. "The most important one is the Russian ambassador make sure he has extra security." We both nod. "Please turn off your phones." The General then hands us the secret phone lines.

"I'm trusting you two, the ambassadors will have their own security guards but you two will oversee everything." We nod and salute. We make our way back outside then we go change from our regular uniform to a black suit.

Once I finished changing I open the small black box in where the ring is in. I sigh, I can't even call her to reschedule. That's when Robin sneaks up on me making me jump. He laughs super loud. "Did I scare you?" I scoff.

He then gasps as he sees the ring. His face softens. "Oh no Killian, were you going to ask her tonight?" I nod as I close it, and put it in my pocket. "I have my duty so I can't reschedule, I just hope she understands." Robin smiles. "After all you guys have been through, I'm sure she will."

I smile and nod. "Oh and I've been meaning to tell you something." I smile and nod. "What is it?" "You're going to be an uncle." I gasp. "No way?" He nods. I go and hug him. "Robin I am so happy for you, oh you're going to be an amazing dad." He smiles and sighs.

"I hope so." I smile. "You will." Robin smiles. "We've come really far haven't we?" I nod. "We have." That's when we get our cue to go to the airport because they were going to arrive.

Several hours passed by and all the ambassadors were in the VIP waiting room in the airport. Once we secured them we were able to get them in their cars and on their way to the hotel. Everything had gone good and each ambassador made it safely well we were just waiting for one more.

The Russian ambassador was running a bit late but there was no reason to be alarmed. We were in the parking structure waiting for them to arrive. I looked at my watch and it was 5:50pm. My heart broke, I should be on my way to pick her up and not here.

I look up and we see his car drive in. As soon as he gets out another car storms in and starts shooting at us. His body guards pulled him away and we managed to get him to safety. As we keep shooting at the men, Robin gets shot in the arm.

I push him out of the way, and I shoot the man in the head. That's when another group of men come and start shooting at me. I don't understand how they got through if we had enough men on guard. I get shot in the shoulder but I continued to shoot.

I was so focused on shooting that I didn't see a car coming behind me. In a matter of seconds I'm on the floor, the car had run me over. I feel so much pain, and that's when a man with a mask comes and shoots me many times all around my body. He takes off his masks and chuckles.

I gasp when I see him, it was Gold. I start to cough up blood, as I try to reach up to him. He chuckles super hard and kicks me. "I told you that you were going to pay." He puts his mask on and drives away. I look around and I see all the men scattered through out the parking lot.

I look up and I feel my life fading away. I'm going to leave Emma alone, and my only regret is that I never asked her to marry me. That's when I see Robin hovering over me. He's hyperventilating like crazy. "You will survive brother, just hang it there." I smile and slowly closed my eyes.

I guess my time on this earth is over....
