Chapter 12

Many weeks later
"Make a move I dare you." I say as I look at my enemies in the eye. I see drops of sweat falling down each of their foreheads. They know they are finished, they know I am going to destroy them.

I give them another daring look and that's when they all look down. "I fold," Carlos says as he puts his cards. "So do I," Jay as says as he puts his cards down. I look at Robin and he scoffs.

"Full house gentleman," I say and laugh. Robin scoffs. "You freaking cheater, I swear do you like pray to the poker gods or something?" I chuckle. "Well gentleman this means you all have to clean our lovely home." They all sigh.

"No fair captain you always have the upper hand," Jay says and Carlos nods. I stand up and sigh. "Sorry boys but a bet is a bet and we all bet on whether or not to clean and you all lost." They all got up and continued to complain as I laughed my butt off.

Robin looks at me and shakes his head. "You are really making me go clean?" I grin. "You bet on it so yes." He walks away complaining as well. "Next time you're going down Jones." I laugh, "It's captain to you." Robin scoffs as he continued down the hall. I make my out of the house and I stood there contemplating on where we were at.

War did break out but we were sent to another country, the country of Maldonia, which is 30 hours away from Misthaven to aid them. They are in alliance with our country, so we were sent here instead of aiding the war. We are to help them in every aspect we can and we might stay here for 1-3 years depending on how the war goes.

I look up at the sky and I see a shooting star. I smile then looked down. My mind went straight to Emma, God I wish I was with her now but of course I can't. That's when a little girl runs up to me and she hugs me.

"What's wrong?" I ask as I pick her up. "Im lost." "Where do you live?" She pointed at the forest. "What are you doing out at night?" She starts to cry. "I'm scared." I hug her. "Dont worry we will get you back." She smiles.

I walk back into the house and grabbed my gear then wandered off into the forest. That's when I come across a little village. "Is that where you live?" I ask the little girl and she shrugs. That's when a man and woman rush out and the girl jumps out of my arms.

They come and hug her and her dad begins to scold her. That's when the woman walks up to me. "Thank you so much for bringing my child." I nod. "I don't have any money, but I can give you some food as a thank you gift." I smile.

This country is very poor but has a good military defense which is weird but I am no one to question how this country works. I shake my head at the woman and she gives me a confused look. "There's no need just doing my job, good night." She smiles as she walks back to her husband and daughter.

I smile seeing them together, in a way I really envied that, what would I give to have a normal life and to be able to have a family.

Emma's POV
"Ok Emma from now on you will never set foot in the OR instead you will be a guest on that talk show answering medical related questions," the chief says and I nod. "You will report in the morning to the talk show." I nod again.

"You understand?" I nod. "How come you're not saying anything?" I give him a straight face. "I have nothing to say." He nods. "You're dismissed." I nod and walked out of his office. I made my way back to my office and sighed.

Tears just rolled down my cheek. How is it possible that my life has gone downhill. That's when Elsa walks in. "Emma what's wrong?" I sigh. "Is it because of Killian or your position?" I pout. She nods. "Both." I nod. She comes and hugs me. "Oh my Emma, don't worry the chief is stupid for losing one of his surgeons and Killian...." I sigh.

"I don't want to talk about him." She nods. "So when do you start on that talk show?" I sigh. "Tomorrow." She nods. "Oh boy." I nod. "Hey how about we go grab a couple of drinks." I shake my head. "I need to be good for the talk show tomorrow, I can't have a hangover." Elsa chuckles.

"It's only a couple of drinks we aren't getting wasted." I sigh. "Come on." I scoff. "Fine." Elsa smiles. "My shift ends in 30 min I'll meet you at the bar." I nod. I went to change and made my way to the bar. I ordered a drink and went to find a seat.

I found a seat and sat down. I drank my whole drink and raised it up so I could get another. That's when a man approaches me and boy did he remind me of Killian. "Hey haven't seen you around this place?" I smile. "I don't come here often." He nods, and that's when the bartender comes and places the drink in front of me.

I nod at him and downed my drink. "You trying to forget?" I chuckle. "How'd you know?" I ask in a slightly slurred way. I could tell I was already starting to feel a tad drunk. He smiles and that's when I see four tequila shots placed in front of me. He gave me a smile and nodded.

"My treat." I smile and downed three. I was definitely feeling way drunk. That's when I see the man getting closer to me. "You want to go back to my place?" I smile. "To do what?" He smiles. That's when I see Elsa standing there. "Hey you stop trying to bang my best friend, leave, scram you dirty man." He scoffs and walks away.

I wave at the guy and Elsa puts my hand down. "Emma what is your problem?" I pout. "I was going to sleep with Killian and you sent him away." She chuckles. "My God you are drunk, Emma that wasn't Killian." I laugh. "Yes it was." She sighs. "I think this was a bad idea let's go take you home." I scoff.

"No!" I scream out. "Can't you see I lost my chance with Killian because I am an idiot, he was amazing and a gentleman and I didn't even try to wait for him." I didn't even care if that's what came out of my mouth, at this moment the alcohol was giving me the courage I needed to accept my true feelings.

Elsa picks me up and takes me out of the bar and loads me in her car. "I'll take you to the network tomorrow for the car show, and we will pick your car up after." I sat down on the seat and started to cry.

God why am I so stupid, Killian was the best thing that happened to me and I let him go just like that. I hated myself, why did I have to act that way with him? Well it doesn't matter know because he's out there fighting a war for our country and probably falling in love with someone who will actually fight for him.
