“What are you thinking about?” Sage asked as we were lounging about on my bed. It was 4:30 pm and I was feeling sleepy already.

“just about us.” I reply groggily glancing across to him. He was looking at me with an expression I didn’t recognise. “what’s wrong?”

He shakes his head at me slowly looking across the room before leaning down to kiss my lips softly. I raise my eyebrows at him when he pulls back.

“what do you want?”

He frowns. “what?”

“why did you do that? Your only sweet when you want something,” I grin.

He chuckles softly and kisses my cheek quickly before sitting up.

I pout and sit up with him. “whats the matter?”

“nothing, I was thinking the same, look at how much we had together.” He murmurs tucking the strands of my hair back behind my ear. My hand catches his.

“what do you mean had? What we ‘have’ now, you mean?”

He smiles softly and ignores my correction. “do you miss the way we used to be?”

I lower my eyes and feel a blush coming over my cheeks. “yeah. I guess, but I like what we have now better,”

He lifts my chin up so my eyes meet his, he seemed to be searching for something. I frown and pull out of his hold. “whats the matter? Come on Sage, you know I know something’s up, tell me.”

He pauses for a second. “I just....i miss those days...you know, where we had so much fun, in the summer,” he takes my hand and plays with my fingers.

It soothes me but I’m still confused, why was he thinking this now?

“well, we can always do that stuff again,” I tell him. He looks up with a hopeful expression.

“is that all you were worried about?” I ask smiling at little.

He shakes his head and ducks his head again. I glower at him. What was bugging him so much?

He sighs and drops my fingers. “you remember at school? Before the summer?”

I gaze at his face trying to decipher what he’s thinking but I can’t see anything. “yeah.”

“well, you know I kept being the player I was, while being firends with you,” he seems embarrassed.

I frown and remember back to the day when he first told me he was still going to go out with other girls while we were friends.

The schools cafeteria was buzzing with noise as I entered. Some people glanced at me still shocked about my sudden friendship with Sage, others ignored me like I never existed – I liked it better.

“Callie!” Lilly’s voice called me out of my gaze of trying to find my friends.

I spun around and braced myself with the huge hug she was going to give me.

As she hugged me I spied the cafeteria finding some of the others through the windows outside.

Lilly pulled away and grinned at me. “Guess what!”

“what?” I try to put out the sarcasm in my voice but I can’t help it.

“Im seeing Kylie Minogue in concert!” she squeals. I try to calm her down.

“really? But shes so old.” I moan guiding her out of the cafe.

She scowls at me. “come on Callie, don’t be such a killjoy.”
