Chapter 21

What was I thinking about? He wouldn't leave me...not a second time...would he?

This question repeated itself in my head, over and over again until my mum came home. She took one look at me and shook her head.

"what did he say?" she demanded putting the shopping on the kitchen counter.

I just shook my head.

She rested one hand on her hip sighing. "you have to talk to me sometime about it,"

"I just....oh mum..." I burst into tears and she came rushing over.

"hey! None of those, calm down, what did he say?"

"he didn't tell you?" I whispered as I sobbed into her shoulder.

She shook her head seeming confused. "he told me that he needed to talk to you seriously about something, I've never seen him look so...haunted in his life, and that girl," mum shuddered, "I have a bad feeling about her."

"its too late mum..." I muttered wiping my eyes.

She leaned away and looked into my eyes. "what do you mean?"

"he's gone." I said in a dead voice. It didn't seem true.

Mum cocked her head to the side. "he wouldn't..."

I didn't care about her reply instead I went back to my ever present bed. It was becoming my best friend.

"Hey! Callie!"

I knew that voice. I rushed quicker towards my class. I so did not want to face him right now.

"hey, wait up, why are you moving so fast?" his voice was becoming closer. oh no.

"Listen, Cole, I'm really not in the mood." I replied in a sullen tone.

"why- woah!" I spun around quick and he almost ran into me.

"just back off, I'm not in the mood." With that last sentence I stalked off.

**

At lunch no one sat next to me. I was glad. I wanted to be left alone.

"hello gorgeous, what's with the face?" Aidens voice brought me out of my thoughts I glanced over to him, he was sitting across from me with a confused expression on his face.

"nothing," I'm muttered moodily staring down towards my non eaten sandwiches.

Aiden obviously didn't believe me. "alright, I know that's theres something going on between you and Tori. I saw her in class and she was in a bad mood too so come on, spill."

"its not really any of your business," I said snobbily. Geez, what was wrong with me? it wasn't Aidens fault, why was I taking it out on him?

His face registered surprised as well as hurt but he replaced it quickly with a hardened expression.

I sighed out a big breath. "I'm sorry, I'm being such a bitch."

He leaned forward forcing me to look into his eyes. He searched them for a long time before finally leaning back.

"well?" I said instantly.

"nothing," he replied non-chantilly.

I gave him my hard stare and just as I had guessed he backed down.

"Alright! I know your hurt bad, don't try to deny it, I was looking for the lost girl who was here a couple of years ago."

I tried to not show my surprise but failed. "what do you mean?"
