Chapter 18
“Hey,” Sages voice comes from the kitchen door just as mum is dishing dinner. I look up from my magazine and smile at him.
“nice sleep?” I asked smirking.
He grinned. “ah..its been better,” He came over to the table and sat across from me with a small smile on his face.
“why have you got that smile on your face?” I asked closing the magazine.
He glances up and meets my eyes, “what smile?”
“don’t play jokes with me, why are you being like this? First your all horrible at lunch, then your the hot boyfriend, then your the sad grumpy boy and now your being...sappy?”
“sappy?” he repeats raising his eyebrows.
I shrug. “sappy.”
“well, I don’t know, maybe its your fault?” mum comes to the table and puts the dish on top of the mat in the middle of the table. Sage dives into immediately spooning lots onto his plate.
“were you raised by a pack of wolves? slow down sage, you’ll make yourself ill,” my mum scolded him. He just rolled his eyes but did slow slow down.
“my fault? How can it be my fault?” I asked incredulity in my voice.
He shrugs and digs in to the dinner. Pig.
After dinner, Sage goes home to get his stuff to stay over mine. The conversation to ask my mum is very.......well....awkward.

“umm...mum?” me and sage wander into the living room. Im red in the face and sage is nervously rubbing his thumb over my knuckles, they get quicker as I begin to talk.
“yeah sweetie?” she asks looking up from the documents on her lap. She looks very focused and distracted, maybe this will be easy?
“can sage stay around?” I asked my stomach begins to do butterflies.
She raises her eyebrows at us. Uh oh, not good.
“why are you asking if sage can stay over?” she asks. “I just have to assume he’s staying now. You never ask, what’s wrong?”
Is she thick or something? An unresponsible adult?
“well, we’re like dating, we thought you would be all against the sleepover thing now,” Sage unclasps my hand to put it around me waist.
She ‘aww’s’ at our affection and carries on talking, “baby, I don’t really care, I know you haven’t been going out long, maybe when its a bit more serious...” she trails off and looks back at her paper work pretending to look for something.
“well, thanks....ummm, see ya,” I mutter and walk out the room. Sage stays in there though and when I look back hes starting to close the door on me. I start to open my mouth to ask why but he beats me to it.
“I need to talk to your mum, procedure,” he winks then closes the door leaving me on my own. I raise my eyebrows at nothing in particular before walking into the kitchen feeling peckish.
He comes out 5 minutes later looking smug and relieved. I was mid way to spooning in some jelly into my mouth. He chuckles at my expression of surprise and annoyance.
“eat up, im going home, I’ll be back later,” he saunters over as I swallow the jelly greedily.
“how long is later?” I ask slyly turning in my seat to see him.
He smirks, “short,” he replies and leans down to peck my lips...i cant help it thouh and pull him even closer and deepen the kiss. He responds and I can feel his grin.
