58 - Daily Life

"Until the end."
He said in a soft tone as he struggled to keep his eyes opened. He stared at him as Erwin's eyes began to slowly close. It was late and he was tired, but Erwin kept him up. He laid his head on Erwin's stump and closed his eyes. He took comfort in the fact that he could sleep well with Erwin by his side. That night, Levi had slept with the man he had loved for so long, but this was different. It really did make Levi feel like they were married. He slept soundly with a small smile on his face.

The next morning, Levi had woken up to the sound of a rooster, whom he believed belonged to a neighbor. Ok, he might need to get used to domestic country life a lot better. He sat up with an ugly and dead look to him. He yawned and stretched his arms out when he remembered why he was there. He looked around and couldn't see Erwin in sight. A missing Commander with memory loss will need to be found quickly to make sure nothing had happened to him. Levi got out of bed and grabbed his robes, tying it around him as he looked around the room.
" Erwin?"
He became louder so Erwin could hear him anywhere in the house. 
"Erwin where are you?"

He walked out of the room and went to hunt down his partner.

Erwin woke up not even four hours later from haunting dreams. He dreamt of all kinds of unknown faces, all bloody, all pale from the lack of  blood in their veins, some are already rotting away, some state at him with dead eyes, blaming him, chasing him. Sweat was on his body as he woke up. Luckily it was just a dream, but his night ended right there. He wasn't able to get back to sleep and before he would wake his peacefully sleeping partner he decided to stand up and get some water.
    Carefully to mot wake Levi he wiggles himself out from underneath him and makes his way to the kitchen as quiet as he can. After some cold water, he felt slightly better, but also awake. It was still time before day would come, so he makes his way into the study room to look over the documents the doctor had given him. He found out that some patients were able to remember their past when they came to a certain place others when they have seen something they really wanted to see. The only thing he kept seeing was the shore and wonders if he would remember everything if he would go there.
    It was no use, even after reading he wasn't able to stop thinking and so he makes his way out into the garden and sits under a tree. He discovers the box, Levi was asked to bury again. He took it out with him to eventually look through it again, but he was stuck sitting there under the tree with the box before him.
    Day was breaking through some clouds and a rooster announces it loudly. He was still sitting there, but he heard Levi calling his name, which finally made him get up.
    "I am outside." His deep voice calls from right outside the door, which he approaches with the box in his arm.

He ran outside when he saw Erwin with the box. He felt guilty for not doing as Erwin said yesterday. His heart started to race, thinking he could get in trouble. He stopped in front of Erwin.
"Ok, Let me explain... You see, I thought it would be a good idea to keep it. So I kept it safe. I thought that it would do you some good."
He put his hands up in his defense.

Erwin observes Levi's reaction and was slightly amused by him if he is honest. He looked so unusual. 'Wait unusual? Did... Do I?' It was as if a memory tugged on him violently, but as quick as this came up it is gone again. He shakes his head and steps closer to Levi.
    "You don't have to explain yourself. Keep it safe, Bury it or burn it. I don't have the will to open it." He presses the box into Levi's arms and walks past him into the house.
    "I am hungry. Let us make breakfast my wife." After Levi mentioning the whole thing about a married couple, he had to use this now to lighten the mood. It was no use to mourn over the past, which he only remembered, but even though the past stays the past. Right here right now is what his life is and this life will be one with Levi, that he is sure of. He heads right into the kitchen and roams through the storage room, which is richly filled with dry meat, herbs, cheese, milk, all the heart desires and a little extra from commander Pixis... A great wine from the inner walls. Everyone around knew by now about Erwin and all who respect him and hold him dear gave something for them to take with them, to make their life a bit easier for the start.
