The doctor was a white haired man who seemed more scary then comforting. “Lie down on the table.” he had instructed her and she had done just that. Next he went about probing her. She had to admit, it left her rather sore. Too bad Victoria hadn’t stayed to hold her hand and Alex had decided not to come which seemed to hurt her more. “Okay Miss Decker, you may sit up.”
She did as she was told. “Your body is in excellent condition to carry the child. We should be able to do the procedure tonight. Afterwards you should have plenty of bed rest. “Thank you.”
After the man left she got dressed and headed out to the waiting area. Surprisingly Victoria was there texting on her phone. “Hi. I got the news. I’m bringing you back tonight.”
“Did you tell Alex?”
“I tried texting him but he’s in meeting all day.”
Emma realized that she had no clue as to what he did for a living. She felt a little let down that he didn’t call to see how things were going.
The drive back to the house was quick but no sooner had she walked through the door, Victoria had ushered her upstairs to her room and into bed. She slept then dreaming about Alex and his nice smile. She had just gotten to a great part of her dream before she was being shaken.
“Victoria stood above her saying it was time to go. Looking at the clock she could see that it was 6:30 in the evening. She guessed it was a perfect time to get pregnant.
Alex POV
Alex’s day hadn’t been going to well. He had been in meetings after meetings and when he finally checked his voicemail he got a call saying that Victoria had been in and out and had taken Emma out as well. He had felt slight pains but wrote them off as missing his mate. He felt guilt knowing that he hadn’t so much as called or text Emma today. Alpha business can be so demanding but he should have taken a moment. He wondered what she must think of him now.
He sighed as he entered the house. He could see a few teenagers hanging out in the game room and when a few noticed him, they bowed to him. He made his way upstairs and to Emma, he didn’t even care if Victoria was home he just wanted to check up on Emma. He didn’t even knock as he entered her room. He wondered why her door wasn’t lock. Walking into the room he froze in place. A woman named Maggie sat in a chair next to Emma’s bed, knitting. She offered him a tiny smile. “Good evening Alpha.”
“Maggie, what are you doing here?”
“Oh, I’m watching over Miss Emma seeing as she’s been to the doctor and all.”
“The doctor?”
He felt his heart speed up knowing what this all meant. Could his child be growing inside of her right now and he not told her a thing about the wolf world. Did Victoria tell her anything? He walked over to the bed getting a better look at her. She was sweating profusely and he put his hand to her forehead feeling the heat radiating off of her. “She’s running a fever.”
“Yes sir. That is why they asked me to stay with her.” Looking at her you would think that Emma was sound asleep but she just didn’t look well and that scared the hell out of him.
“Where is Victoria?”
“I believe she’s in her room sir.”
Alex stormed out of the room leaving the woman in stunned silence.
He burst into the room and Victoria jumped up from her vanity table. “Alex you scared the hell out me.”
“Why didn’t you tell me about the procedure?”
