Chapter 17

Paul POV

Paul felt refreshed after his love making session with Victoria. He had sent her on her way. He got out of bed in all his glory and put on his pants. He didn’t bother with a shirt. A knock on the door caught his attention. “Come in.”

A young boy, maybe fifteen or sixteen walked in. “Alpha, might I have a word?”

“What is it…Kyle?”

“I wanted to ask for a chance to prove my worth to the pack sir.”

Paul looked the boy up and down. He knew he was one that he asked to stay back when they attack Alex’s pack. He was probably the lowest rank in the pack from how small he actually looked. “I don’t know Kyle. My wolf senses are telling me that you’re weak. I can’t just say yes and have you jeopardized my plans.”

“But Alpha, I am an excellent fighter, fast and quick.”

“But you lack patience. That will get you killed quickly.”

The boy raised his voice. “When will I get to prove my worth?”

“The question is not when but if. If you address me like that again I will snap you in half.”

The boy’s eyes pierced his but just as Paul was about to reach out and strike the boy looked down. Paul could tell he was angry but he knew better than to do anything about it.

“Get down to the hall for the meeting Kyle. The boy obeyed but had the same defiant look on his face. He was definitely one to watch out for.

Paul walked into the mess hall and took in all his pack members. They were an unruly bunch but reliable when he needed them. He laughed to himself. They were all rogues. Rogues had a terrible reputation and are often considered insane. Looking around it wasn’t all that far from the truth. “Listen up!” he yelled across the room. Everyone seemed to halt.  

“As you all know, we’re going to pay my brother a visit. No one is to touch him but me. Revenge is sweet but it’s even sweeter if I’m the one dishing it out.”

“What about his mate?” someone yelled from the crowd. Victoria stepped forward and smirked. “She’s mine.”Paul watched her for a moment.

“Alex’s mate will not die unless he is watching.” Victoria nodded.

“When do we attack?”

“In four days, we show them no mercy.” Everyone cheered not noticing the young boy who slipped out the back door.

Alex POV

Alex watched the doctor examine his mate. “She’s definitely pregnant.”

“So tell me doc, what’s going to make this different from the last time?”

“She’s your mate. There is a possibility that the baby will be a half breed.”

“So what exactly does that mean?” Emma asked as she sat up.

“There’s a good chance that this pregnancy will go by without a problem but then there are always the possibilities of complications. I want to check in on you once a week until the baby is born.” The man said while looking at Emma.

“Okay.” Emma looked at Alex who seemed deep in thought.

“What happens if there are complications?” Alex asked.

The doctor shrugged. “We will deal with them as they come. For now the only dilemma I see is that Emma needs to eat and get plenty of rest. No strenuous work,” He looked at Alex, “Or unnecessary stress.” Alex looked amused but agreed. After the doctor left Emma laid back and closed her eyes and sighed. She felt the bed dip as Alex lay next to her. He just held her, rubbing her stomach. “Are you still worried?” She asked.
