Author note: very short Chapter but a monumental moment for Emma.

Alex shifted into his wolf upon hearing her scream. He found her within a minute but the sight made him freeze in his place, a wolf had Emma pinned to the ground on her back.  Alex could tell that he was a young wolf from his small size. He made a move and the wolf bared its teeth even more towards Emma. He could tell she was trying not to cry but her body shook uncontrollably.  Alex stopped, he heard Emma say through their connection. He wanted to rip this wolfs head off. He heard rustling to his right and Bradley appeared. He bared his teeth at the young wolf. Another growl sounded on his other side and Alex knew this wolf was Adam. It was apparent that Adam had Alpha blood in him seeing as he was close to Alex’s size. This seemed to surprise the young wolf. He could see the gears turning in the wolf’s head. Alex knew what he was about to do. As he lunged forward the young wolf sunk his fangs into Emma’s exposed neck. Alex saw her eyes go wide before a single tear slipped out.

The young wolf bolted off of her before running into the woods. Apparently the rogue figured that wounding Emma would distract them. Alex was torn between going after him and killing him for harming Emma. Looking up he could see that Adam had the wolf pinned to the ground by his neck. Alex shifted back and looked down at Emma.

“She’s losing a lot of blood Alex, do something.”Bradley said at his side.

Alex put his hand to the wound on Emma’s neck. He tried in Vain to stop the bleeding. Tears were flowing from his eyes and he didn’t even try to hide them as more of his pack members came into view. The doctor ran forward. He wore a grim expression as he took in Emma’s paleness. “Alex I know you may not want to but you have to change her.” he looked around to see the grim faces of all those around him. He saw Emma’s parents push forward. Her father nodded to him. He didn’t want to do it but even as he leaned forward he couldn’t stop himself. He bit into the spot where her heart should be.

Emma POV

It spread like wild fire through her veins. She sucked in a deep breath before letting it slowly leak out. “Get her to the house Alex.” That voice belonged to the Doc. She felt herself being lifted and carried. There were voices murmuring but she didn’t really want to hear what they were saying. “Emma I love you.” That was Alex. She wanted to tell him the same but nothing was working. There was a slow and steady pain that started in her head and was making its way to her feet. “Stop.” She was trying to make the pain go away but it wouldn’t listen.

She felt her body being laid down on the bed. “Alex, you know what you have to do.”

“What did he have to do?”

“Emma? I’m going to be right here until the end. I want you to fight it and in a little while you’ll be just fine.”

A wave of pain hit her. She would be like this for the next three hours. She would scream but nothing, no one could ease her pain, not even Alex. She was sure she had heard him cry.

After the third hour she felt her back break. The defining sound had been the only sound throughout the room. “You have to fight it Emma. It’s too soon to shift. She’s still mostly human.” Alex was saying.

“It’ll be fine Alex.” That was Conner. His voice sounded strained as well. It was almost as if her bones were adjusting but she didn’t feel different. Was she shifting into a wolf? Another break made her gasp. Her arms felt like a mangled mess. Then her legs popped. Her knee caps seemed to bend backwards. “We’re almost done Emma.”

Almost done? She was pretty sure everything was broken but no. The last bone was her sternum. As it popped it felt as if someone had dropped a two ton brick on it. “She’s shifting.”

She felt it, lightness and then a sharpening of her senses.

Emma opened her eyes and saw that she was in a field, A blanket of snow covered her but fell away as she sat up. She wore the same little dress as before but oddly she felt no cold.

A wolf sat at her side, its fur, a silvery whiteness against the white snow. She felt connected to this wolf as if it were a part of her. It looked up at her and it was easy to see that it had the same eyes as her.
