Emma opened her eyes to the sunlight pouring into the window. A knock sounded on the door before it opened.
“Emma We’re going into town to pick up your sister and her husband. Do you need anything?” her mother said.
“No mom, I’m fine.”
“Get out of the bed honey. You don’t want to be still lying there when your sister and Alex arrive.” She could tell by the way her mother said Alex’s name that she wasn’t use to him yet. Who could blame her when she never met the man? It was a shocker that they didn’t go find them and drag Victoria back home.
“Do you need me to do anything mom?”
“Yes. Could you take your dog for a walk? He’s been waiting to get out all night but with the wolves about your dad thought it would be a bad idea. I already fed him.”
“Thanks mom, I’ll walk him.”
Emma sat up as the door closed. She decided she should go for a run considering that she was about to have an eventful day.
She threw on a pair of yoga pants and a zipped up her hoodie. She hurried down stairs to find Cody. She found the Labrador sitting at the back door whining. “Come along Cody.” Her fingers grazed his head as he scrambled to his feet. No sooner had she open the door he took off across the yard. She jogged after him not really worrying if he got out of sight. She only had to call and he would come running. She jogged ignoring the cold as it seemed to pierce her skin a bit. But soon she was working through the numbness. She always loved a good run. It relieved stress and it was just refreshing. She had completed her run in an hour before she was making it back to the house. She slowed her pace as she neared the house. She could see her parent’s car was back meaning that Victoria had to be here as well. She took her time walking up to the back door. She could hear people talking inside but she tried not to decipher the voices. She pushed the back door open. If she was quick she could run up stairs and hide for the rest of the day.
“Emma, is that you? Come and say hello to your sister.”
Emma let out a silent curse as she made her way into the living room. Her eyes landed on her mother, her father and then Victoria. “Emma, oh my goodness look at you.”
“Hi Vicky.” Her eyes went to a man who just stood there watching her. He looked about twenty-two to twenty four years old, a little older than her twenty-two years. She couldn’t decipher the look on his face though. Emma couldn’t help thinking that Alex looked amazingly hot. Her sister let out a squeal and was on her feet and hugging her so tight she was sure her lungs would pop.
“What have you been up to sis?”
She looked at Victoria cautiously. “Nothing, just working.”
“Are you coming back from a run? I can’t believe you still do that?”
“I love it actually.” Her sister smiled sweetly at her before saying, “Honey come and shake my sister’s hand. Alex walked over and shook her hand. She held back her surprise when she felt a weird feeling go through her. It was like an electric current but it didn’t hurt, in fact it felt nice. She kept her gaze away from his face.
“Nice to meet you Alex.”
“You to Emma.” He held on to her hand despite the fact that she was trying to remove it.
“Would you all like some breakfast?” her mother all but shouted.
“Sure mom Victoria replied.”
Emma wasn’t exactly hungry. She pulled her hand free. “I’m going to go shower.” She excused herself.
Alex POV
Alex heart was in overdrive as he watched Victoria’s sister walk into the room. He had smelled her scent before she had even walked in which was enticing. It was Apple and cinnamon and it sent his wolf on high alert. He didn’t mean to stare but she reminded him of the girl he fell in love with. Looking at Victoria he could barely tell that they were twins. Victoria had work done to her entire face since he met her but the resemblance was still there. For some reason he wished his wife looked like the girl that stood before them.
He noticed that she was watching him. Victoria let out a squeal and was on her feet in seconds.
“What have you been up to sis?” she said as she hugged Emma. Victoria had said her name was Emma right? Gosh he had zoned out in that moment he inhaled her.
“Nothing, just working.” Emma had responded.
“Are you coming back from a run? I can’t believe you still do that?”
“I love it actually.”
Victoria smiled sweetly at her before saying, “Honey come and shake my sister’s hand.” He inconspicuously wiped his sweaty palms on his pants and walked over to shake her hand. When his fingers touched her bare skin it felt like nothing he had ever felt before. He wondered if she felt it too seeing as she kept her gaze away from his face.
“Nice to meet you Alex.” His voice was so soft.
“You to Emma.” He held her hand for a moment before her mother said,
“Would you all like some breakfast?” Alex dropped her hand or more like she pulled it away. That hurt him and his wolf knowing she was doing this. What the hell?
“Sure mom Victoria replied.” But Emma said, “I’m going to go shower.”
Alex sort of watched as she made her way up stairs. Pretty soon it was just him and Victoria’s dad Ned standing in the living room. “Do you need help with your bags son?” he looked at the stairs. “Alpha?” he corrected.
“No sir. I can manage but thank you and you can call me son or Alex. No need to be formal.”
“It’s the third door on the left.” He watched as the man nodded and disappeared into the kitchen. Alex grabbed the bags and hurried up the stairs.
He found the room easily and placed the bags onto the bed before taking in his surroundings. At least they had their own bathroom. He walked to it opening the door and was shocked to see another door opening on the opposite side. So maybe they didn’t have their own bathroom after all. “Sorry I….”
Emma looked up surprised to see him. “Its okay, do you need too….” Emma backed away.
“No I was just taking in my surroundings.”
“Hmm. If you two need the privacy I would be more than happy to use the one down stairs.”
“I wouldn’t want to put you out.”
She chuckled and it sounded like bells. “You wouldn’t. Trust me, I had come up with plan b and c before you all got here.”
He laughed. “Were you anticipating this to be a bit crazy?”
“Yes but it’s nothing to do with you.” She smirked.
He stared at her not really knowing what to say to her and just as he was about to open his mouth, “Hey babe, what are you doing?” He closed the bathroom door shutting out Emma. His wolf was upset that they were interrupted.
“I was just checking out the surroundings. We have to share a bathroom with your sister.”
“Aw don’t worry about that. She’ll happily use the one down stairs if I ask.” She walked over and kissed him. He felt her fingers go beneath his shirt and he held in a moan. He couldn’t help thinking that Emma was on the other side listening.
